Saturday Lol Figs #11
The history of my obsession of anime figures
I think it was in 2003 that I first heard about Pinky Street. Since then I never looked back but too bad I was jobless on that time so I had no money to get them although some stores over here were selling them back then. However I kept hoping and praying that I'd have them someday.
Around the same time, or perhaps slightly earlier than that I was introduced with OS-tans and moe anthropomorphism. Not that they're related to figures but to think that they're inspired from physical objects like iPods and game consoles they're not much different either. I in fact hoped that somebody would turn them into figures as well.
Fast forward a few years, I learned about Vocaloids. The truth is I learned more about them from figures than from the software. I started developing a love towards Touhou girls too by that time. Yes, similar to Vocaloids, I learned most about them from their figures than from the game. I know Touhou has been around long before Vocaloids but I think Vocaloids are the first to become more accessible to non-Japanese because they're not only used by anime fans but also by music enthusiasts (whereas with Touhou Project it was mostly popular only among danmaku gamers). I'm not saying that Touhou is the lesser between the two but the statistics speak the truth. For me I love both of them equally.
Closer to the current time I learned about Dollfie, thanks to Danny Choo and co. Seriously I want to get them too but in terms of availability I think it would be easier for me to get regular figures than Dollfie. Of course I'd get one too someday if I had the chance.
And now we have Nendoroids. Having similar concept to Pinky Street I mentioned above, I think Nendoroids have brought the figure-loving culture to a whole new level. I'm not really sure on how to properly describe the situation but I can say that loving figures is incomplete if we don't love Nendoroids as well.

Just now I thought of the possible problems I'd face even if I have an awesome camera and the figure stores allow me to take pics. That problem is being no access to 'modify' the figures to create lolfig sets like those I've shown you in my posts so far. What other problems do you think I might face?
