After a lot of hard work we've finally migrated everything to the new site. I hope you like it.

This new version is still under heavy development so expect new updates every week or so.

Problems?

If you come across anything that is confusing or broken please let us know in the comments and we'll do our best to fix it.

IE not recommended

There are some issues in IE with editing posts & uploading images. We recommend using Firefox or Google Chrome instead of IE. We plan to support the latest IE eventually.

Animated gif images (new posts are unaffected)

We are aware of a few cases where the small thumb image did not import correctly for animated gifs, however the larger images imported without error. In most cases these thumb images only appear on the private "Manage Images" window. If you notice this on any of your posts you can fix it by downloading the large image and uploading it again.

What's new?

  • Drag & drop upload - You can drag & drop multiple images onto the upload page when creating or editing a post
  • Activity Stream - Follow all your friends, see all their posts whether they're approved for the top page or not. Not more "where's my post?".
  • Post editor - A brand new inline post editor. Faster and easier to use.
  • Profiles - We now have profile popups allowing you to see another member's latest activity and follow them all from the same page.
  • Speed - Expect a few slow days at the start whilst we work out any issues, but the new system allows us to scale and optimize the site to be super fast.
  • Stability - The site should stay up a lot more than it previously did. We will still have maintenance, but we'll put up a notice to let you know what's going on. The code is a lot more stable, allowing us to focus on building new features more quickly.

What's missing and what's to come

You'll notice some features are missing, but they will soon make a return. We decided to keep it simple for this first release so we can ensure we're working from a solid foundation.

Here's what will soon make a return as well as some new features we're working on:

  • Mobile site - This is a high priority for us right now
  • Twitter & facebook login - Not only will you be able to login via email but also via 1 click with twitter & facebook.
  • Featured feeds - All your previous feeds will return and display on the front page as before.
  • Push to Flickr - Push images you upload to figure.fm to your Flickr account.
  • Profile banners - You'll be able to upload your own custom banner image for your profile page.
  • Image alignment - Center your images or float your images left or right and have the text next to them instead of always below them.
  • Nico Nico Douga videos - Currently the nico tag shows only a link to the video. We will display the video again soon, so you can continue using the tag in the knowledge that they will turn into videos again soon. We will also add the icon back next to the youtube icon so you can more easily add the tag
