-=Moe Air Wing=- Unveiled! SA-01 F-18E 'Haruhi'
After Hasegawa got somewhat serious about releasing a whole series of model airplanes with IM@S themes, I think the time has come to unveil a personal project of mine to the anime community. For years I've watched anime, and now here is my contribution to the world of anime, a little something back.
The -=Moe Air Wing=- is a marriage of 3 hobbies that I have - ANIME, Plasics Modelling and Photography.
Basically its a extension of the 'ita-sha' trend in Japan. I imported the concept to jet aircraft.
While there were already real such 'ita-planes' such as the Pokemon JAL Boeing 747, not until the Ace Combat 6 IM@s was the concept seriously considered.
I started this project way back in Feb 2009. To date, some 9 ita-planes have been built.
I shall start with the first -

If they hadn't considered the F/A-18 "too expensive" that is. ;)
they prefer to stick to F-15 and F-16 platform. Then change to F-22 and F-35. No naval planes. Odd, since they had a proud naval air tradition.
it will be a very long time until they ever get F-22's, we like to keep our best fighters for ourselves. they might get F-35's if the fork over enough cash to Lockheed.
Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution states that "Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes. (2) To accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized."
this clause prohibits the act of war, and any offensive weapons meant to carry out war. this includes any aircraft carriers operating fixed wing aircraft.

So i guess the only thing that can shoot it down is an S-400 Air Defense Complex wearing Mio Akiyama camo lol
After Endless Eight, she's the first plane every otaku wants to shoot down with anything, including the kitchen sink.
