That theme has its css controlled by a php file (css.php).
Maybe try adding this after that "base layout" section, before the "body" tag :
@charset "UTF-8";
That may fix your Japanese character problem.
Nevermind, its in the theme's meta tags. ^^
UTF-8 is already there, Wolf said maybe is something related to my PC...will take a look at it these next days, thanks for help!
