Workspace and quick look at Trumpeter XM177E1
Trumpeter's XM177E1 kit does have a few issues, but it's fun to build and fairly simple. What initially caught my attention is the overall size of the handguards, which are much bigger than what most XM177 rifles from the vietnam era had. They resemble the handguards on the M4 carbine more than the XM177. However, the kit was made so that the upper and lower assembly can be taken down with two pins on the lower receiver, just like the real thing. The stock is collapsible and has 3 postitions in which it can extend, However it is difficult to align the holes on the stock tube with the retention pin, therefore I usually that part unsecured.
Also here's a quick view of my workspace:

Tamiya workbench, expensive, but holds a jar of cement, and some other stuff, as well as offers a place to soak decals. I have a piece of bristol covering it right now. I usually use bristol when painting, as I just got done with Kino's ammo pouches there.

The XM177E1, built with no paint or primer. Stock fully collapsed. I assembled this using Tamiya cement.

Interesting bit here, the lower receiver is engraved with "Colt's Manufacturing Hartford CT" but the magazine well has absolutely no detail.

The box shows future installments of Colt Armalite rifles, from Vietnam to the current era.

Kino's woodsman, I had to repaint it due to scratches from the holster :P
yes it was a mess now we need to fix this problem
fire control selector switch has the safe, semi and auto indications on both sides.
sweet
Selector switch can be glued down, but when it isn't, it's movable and tight enough to not fall off.
Charging handle is static, unfortunately
flash suppressor is a bit short, and not accurate to the real thing, so I'm gonna change it to the A2 later on.
a Jar of Mr. Surfacer 1200, thinned with lacquer thinner.
DO WANT
Seconded.
Thirded. Yoko is always looking for something new to get her hands on :)
All things considered, it looks like a pretty sweet kit.
It's pretty easy to build too, if your daughters need to be armed XD
This needs to line up correctly with the holes in the stock tube
Trumpeter makes model guns!?! never seen that before. i guess these arent very common in the US since we can easily get ahold of the real thing...
Well they're perfect scale for your dollfie daughters, if you have any...
wonder if theres those sorta kits in australia
