If you are submitting content for OTACOOL then you agree to the following.

A: “Dear Contributors” ~ a message from Kotobukiya ~

From the project leaders of “OTACOOL” project in charge of book publishing and some other merchandising based on your contributed photographs, we would like to present the following sincere message to you:

1. Kotobukiya’s policy is to pay the maximum respect to OTAKU cultures and every person who enjoys, contributes to the growth of and practices such culture everywhere in the world.

This policy stems from the fact that Kotobukiya is a part of OTAKU culture by developing and distributing various figures, model kits and other merchandise.

2. At the same time, from the view point of “BUSINESS” practice, Kotobukiya must adhere to the LAW, LICENSE and some other rules which are positioned in far opposition to OTAKU culture.

3. We believe that you might be bothered by the LEGAL language written on this website, but this is unavoidable for the smooth development of OTACOOL projects and its merchandise without interference from third parties or a large number of the general public based on the LAW, LICENSE and other rules.

In other words, the LEGAL language acts as a precaution against possible trouble and for the contributors’ protection from such third parties.

4. Also, please let us explain about the following sentence: “The property right of your photographs you contribute through this website shall be automatically transferred from you to KOTOBUKIYA when you contribute them (or “it”).

KOTOBUKIYA does not intend to steal your photographs. Rather, this is for the right to edit your photographs for inclusion in books, such as the “OTACOOL” series, and other media and merchandise without seeking your prior approval.

We appreciate your kind understanding and wish you a happy and prosperous OTAKU life.


Please read the following statements—“I (means “you”) declare” and “I (means “you”) recognize”—and click the “I agree” button at the bottom of this page.

#A: I declare that:

1. I contribute my photograph and/or photographs through this website by my own free will.

2. I contribute my photograph(s) fully understanding the contribution guidelines mentioned on this website.

3. The photograph(s) I contribute depict my private space and the photograph(s) shall not violate the rights of any third parties and KOTOBUKIYA and its related parties shall not be sued by any third parties because of my contributed photograph(s).

4. I and others shall not assert a claim against nor sue KOTOBUKIYA because of my contributed photograph(s).

5. I shall send my own photograph together with my PC’s monitor showing the application window of this website, for proof that I am following the contribution guidelines at this particular time.

#B: I recognize that:

1. The property right of my contributed photograph(s) contributed through this website shall be automatically transferred from me to KOTOBUKIYA upon my contribution of them (or “it”).

2. My contributed photograph(s) may possibly be printed in a book and other media KOTOBUKIYA produces (they shall be called “OTACOOL Project”) and may be distributed worldwide and displayed to the general public internationally.

3. Kotobukiya has the sole discretion of using my contributed photograph(s) in the OTACOOL Project or not.

4. Kotobukiya has the sole discretion of how to edit and/or layout my contributed photograph(s) on the OTACOOL Project and I shall not assert a claim against KOTOBUKIYA in this regard.

5. Kotobukiya shall keep my personal information as confidential and such information shall not be used for anything other than the OTACOOL project.

6. My portrait and my contributed photograph(s) shall be treated by Kotobukiya in good faith with the respect to me.

7. This photograph contribution to the OTACOOL project shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
