Halo:reach Review
So FINALLY, the Beta is out for Halo:Reach and first off I know there's sruely some CoD fanboys here but hopefully you're mature enough to not b**** about these things.
I have only been playing for like 30 mins (not even on my xbox) so I can't that much but I think I have quite a bit to review what I think so enjoy ^_^ [Can't talk about the story since that's campaign]
GRAPHICS:
The game is crisp and clear and can only get better with the final production. The game has been designed on a new game engine to that of Halo 3 and ODST, and it really is stunning. Bungie had said compared to Halo 3 they have million more polgonzzz to use meaning nicer character, weapon and landscape design. Spartans have gotten a new armour upgrade and elites look like absolute monsters, Bungie really gave them a reason to be feared standing taller than ever before (though SII are meant to be shorter all round).
GAMEPLAY:
Bungie has tweaked game play not by enough to feel like a completely new game but by enough that you do have to get use to the controls, with the absence of equipment.
Button layout has taken a whole new format, dont fret there is the old setting still in place but it's default is on some weird funk. But as far as gameplay it's definitely feels like a Halo game and it's pretty solid for now. I haven't done anything that finicky yet, but we'll just have to wait till the later gamemodes come out.
The armour lock abilities really add a whole new dimension to the game, before when you picked up active camo you, it would activate on the spot here you are given the choice of when to use it, adding a strategic feel to the game.
However some the weapons do feel a little weak or too strong, definitely the grenades are much more powerful compared to the Halo 3 grenades. And the DMR doesn't feel as powerful as a BRifle did.
The beatdown cooldown seems to be also be shorter than before, you can easily do two beatdowns in less time than it takes to chuck a grenade.
MUSIC:
Ahhh the music,There isn't anything that epic at the moment since it is just a beta but there are little bits we'll just have to wait till the full game comes out, but Bungie has always been known for having a great soundtrack with most of the Original Sound Track being composed by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori so we know we aren't going to be bleeding from the ears.
GAMEMODES:
By far my favourite at the moment would have to be stockpile and headhunter, its new and fresh and feels like Bungie actually thought about it. as quoted by a Machinima employee "Stockpile is CTF on crack". But I think people should definitely hold out for invasion it looks ****** epic and looks like a lot of lulz could come out of it.
LITTLE TWEAKS:
So overall I would give (and being a Halo fan) a solid 8/10 with some game tweaks they will have a great game on their hands, Old Halo 1 fans will love it for the nostaliga Halo fans in general will love it just for the title and new halo fans will love the whole backstory of it.
There are more things I would like to talk about but I want to try and keep this short and head back on ^_^ So enjoy and here are some screenshots from bungie
My GT is: NaKAh170 and I hope to see you on the battlefield *runs off*
One more thing, Haters gonna be hating~

Respect, something many halo players lack~

Bleed out????

That looks cool
I think I'll wait for the final version this fall. ^^
Ah, the new assassin blade. >:D
Lookin pretty cool!
I hope I'm not the only one who really doesn't like Halo Reach.
of course you're entitled to your opnion, it's just the fanboys that I dislike
Yeah, the fan boys who blindly the defend the game (or any game, for that matter) is what I hate the most.
But I'm a pretty hardcore omni-gamer, so my standards (and this is just mine) are either really high, or really odd. Like I didn't really World of Warcraft, Modern Warfare 2, Halo 2/3, among others. I just think their hype is undeserved, since millions hail those games as like the second coming of Jesus.
The way I see it, they're pretty average. IMO, they're the same old game with a new coat of paint (especially Call of Duty, ugh), with the only exception being WoW.
Well, what games DO you like? And what system? I tend to play FPS because my preferred system is PC. I only play Halo and other console games when I have time to crash at a friend's place.
Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, Gears of War, God of War, Uncharted, Megaman (almost all of them), GTA, Mario, Zelda, Halo CE (was the only good one IMO), Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Metroid, Half Life, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Call of Duty 1+expansion, L4D, among many others. Those are just the first that came to my head. I also know I like a lot of games that people would consider really bad, I get a kick out of playing a few of them.
Although primarily my system is PC, but I have all the consoles too and I try to play them often. It's just the amount of stupidity that goes on in console-oriented forums is ridiculous, especially now how people are saying that Halo Reach is like the best looking game on the console. Hell, it looks exactly like Halo 3 with great character models to me, and I thought Halo 3 looked average at best. (yes I play it on HD) Some people are even going as far as saying it looks better than Crysis...
Which is ludicrous. Crysis 2, maybe (judging by the disappointing graphics that Crytek has shown in their recent trailer).
My other gripe would be the canon of the game. Having read the Fall of Reach book, I can safely say that the characters WEREN'T in the book. Now they're destroying the pre-established canon and adding this in, which they didn't have to as they could've just made a game about the battle of Reach easily.
You're an old schooler?? That could be why you like less of the newer games, I agree on some of these games definitely Monster Hunters that's my no.1 game.
This pic reminds me of the scene in MGS1 where Grey Fox slaughters all those Genome soldiers.
Yup, looking good thar Halo Reach. I'll be waiting for its release.
I played a few matches earlier and was pretty pleased. One thing I noticed is that the run speed seems to have increased since past Halo games. Not sure if it actually has or not. It may just be that I've gotten used to the run speed in the Lost Planet 2 Demo multiplayer demo since I've been playing that quite a bit. Also, the slightly altered control scheme threw me off a bit in my first match. I charged in to melee some guy to finish him off and pressed the B button and nothing happened. I was like "WTF?".
Loved Halo 1 and 2, 3 was decent, then odst killed the series. But Im thoroughly interested about reach. Already pre-ordered the Legendary edition because that Statue looks sweet. Cant say much about the game since I havent even played the beta yet. Dont want to give an unfair judgment.
Sure, because in ODST you don't play a Spartan anymore. I don't get the ODST hate. I liked the game (even though it was short)--The terminal hunting parts reminded me a lot about Marathon (which I DID play once upon a time ago before most people on this forum was old enough to use a controller).
It annoys the hell out of me because every person I know who hates ODST are ALWAYS complaining about NOT being the Master Chief in that game. Seriously...
I enjoyed ODST's campaign, and I actually liked it a LOT more than Halo 3's. The only reason I didn't like the game as a whole was the price point. 60 bucks for a short campaign and Halo 3's multiplayer? No thanks. Should've been 30$, imo.
Dude..Did I say I didnt like ODST because I wasnt master chief ? No. In fact Im a samus fan :] But the reason why I didnt like it was the price. I was hoping for an all new game, but instead I got a 60 dollar expansion pack that came with a 5 hour campaign. I felt it was really skimped out on. Multiplayer was exactly the same as 3 so I have nothing to say on that.
...actually, the other thing ODST-haters tend to complain about is beign killed easily in the game. I've told them time and time again: in ODST, the key is when to run away, not fight.
...at which point they start calling it a travesty of the Halo name...
Stop assuming that I hate odst because I dont like getting killed easily. One main gripe I have about the entire series is that its too easy to not die in the game.
RIDER KICK
"Do the monkey with me!!!"
No'Sollee had always been accused of putting things in other Elites' mouths...
The Spartan Synchronized Jetpack Team still had a lot of practice to do before the Olympics...
...in the next installment of Red VS Blue...
I'm not a gameboy, but the graphics are freaking AWESOME!! I would buy the game just to watch the action - maybe a good reason to buy a "gamebox" of some kind.
gamebox??? what is this madness?
What blows is the sword parry.
