Basics

No, but seriously these 2 are my basics of basics..
A cheap Samsung S75 - 7.1MP, 29 MP/cm². takes grainy photos and uses AA batteries. I initially thought of just keeping it for sentimental reasons but thought I'd put it to use since I sold off my Sony DSC-H1 to a friend who want ed to go into photography.

Sony Ericcson W810 - 2MP camera. but I usually just use it's Xenon bulb as an alternative light source for when taking low light macro.

Primaries

My primary weapons;

Canon Rebel XTi/EOS400D/Kiss 2 - My first DSLR and what replaced my old Minolta 505Si which sadly was lost in a house fire a few years back.

Lenses:
Canon 50mm 1.8 EF II - a good everyday lens and very capable in low light conditions with very little graining and noise even at ISO 800. Got it on my last trip in HK and used it there. wonderful and bang for your buck lens.

Tamron 70-300mm 4.0-5.6 - got this from a friend who switched to Nikon and ended up with Canon mounted lenses with no body. Used it during last year's F1 races and by God it's wonderful. It doesn't have that fast of a focus but with very little barrel distortion it does an extremely good job at taking long distance shots. It does need a CPL or ND filter though as colors tend to wash out when used in very bright and sunny conditions even with a hood.

Grobartiq 0.5 Wide angle conversion lens - got it from Singapore when I was looking for a wide angle lens but didn't have money for it. over all it only works well up to 20mm but it's half magnification pretty much gives you the same aspect as that of 17-18mm.. although it does give your shots a faux fish-eye effect.

Canon 18-55mm 3.5 EF-S II kit lens - like it says, it's what came with my Canon EOS 400D. decent all around but struggles at low light. Thinking of investing in a Canon EF-S 17-55 mm F2.8 IS lens to serve as my everyday lens. I'm not much of a fan of using flash or at least until I get me Nissin Speedlite Di622 as an external flash unit.

    lol Nice intro pic. XD
    Sadly I only have the basics, as you would classified, a Sony Ericsson W800 (2MP) and Sony CyberShot T2 (8.1 MP).

    It seems most people like Canon or Nikon as DSLR choices. No love for Sony's Alpha DSLR? X3

      Sony's are Sonys.. they can go toe to toe with Nikons and Canons thing is, they come at a premium and can cost a third more than those two. Their Zeiss lenses are among the best out there but do tend to be slow on the focus.

        I see... Even with my basic camera, CyberShot T2, I totally agree with you. Not only is it expensive, but it also has slower focus and shutter speed. Like the anti-shake function, it doesn't work like it's supposed to.
