HG Reborn
notice there are a lot of nub marks all around the kit.. yeah.. i didn't sand all the nub marks away.. only cut those parts nicely from the runners.. i thought the surfacer can cover everything but i guess.. i fail.. too bad.. posing is fine for this kit.. this kit is well articulated.. but joints are a bit loose.. especially the knees which have the transformation function.. well.. the more i play with this kit, more scratches create in between the parts.. a good example was in between the chest and the shoulders.. not taking much photos for the cannon mode.. cause it can't post much and i'm afraid more scratches made.
here is the summary of the works:
-mr.color metallic red
-mr.color gold
-mr.color clear orange
-gaia flat coat
-panel line
-foil stickers
-surface

Wow... How did you get your gold so shiny?
it is the mr.color gold (not those spray can type).. spray on top of the surfacer.. and the ratio of thinner and the paint itself is about 6:4.. but make sure it won't block the head of the AB..
wow...awsome...nice gold
thx..
Nub marks or no... I still think you did some good work here.
thx man..
Not digging the gold at some places. The red looks pretty rough too.
Love your panel-lines though. Nice and sharp.
i think i didn't check the content of the paint properly before applying it.. actually i did two layer of this red to make it smoother..
My own Reborns Gundam is almost done. Just have the weapons left. I have been working on him for for 5 months...
wow.. 5 months.. i saw it in some of your WIP.. it look great.. hope to see yours finish soon..
Tony Stark called. He's claiming intellectual property right violation on Ribbons. :p
Seriously, that's a good paintjob. Could have been better if you sealed the seam lines and sanded them, but nonetheless pretty good.
Some notes:
- I usually seal my finished kit with a clear coat of paint--either Testors (Lacquer) or Mr Color (Acrylic). This helps protect the paint coats from getting too rubbed off. Just remember to use Acrylic if you painted the undercoat with Lacquer, and LAcquer if you use Acrylic/Enamel paints underneath.
- If you have access to Future or Pledge (Clear Floor polish, they're actually Clear Gloos Acrylic), might be worth at least dipping (not brushing or spraying) the clear parts in them so they look more glossy and clear.
- Just my opinion (I don't like too-thick panel lines), but you can tone down some of the panel lines using a bit of alcohol on a cotton swab. This lightens the ink somewhat, so that it looks more like actual shadows instead of inked lines--just don't use too much as it will clean all of them away.
- Uhm, paint the thrusters' exhaust port black?
i forgot to fix the seam lines again argh.. i get what you mean in the first two point of the notes.. i got no idea how to differentiate Lacquer or Acrylic last time.. thanks for the info.. will learn more about it.. dipping maybe a good idea.. cause spraying really give me lots of trouble..
about the thick panel line.. usually i done it after i paint it but if using a bit alcohol on cotton swab to make those line thin.. isn't it will swab the paint away too?.. until now i have worry about this matter.. thats why i don't dare to try..
