A Custom Action Figure of Cube
I just finished up my custom action figure of Cube from "Jet Set Radio", so I decided to take some pics.
The Dreamcast had a bunch of awesome games, and one of my favorites was "Jet Grind Radio" ("Jet Set Radio" in Japan). Unfortunately, while it was critically acclaimed, it didn't do as well as perhaps it should have sales-wise. As a result, there haven't been many figures or other merchandise made for it or the Xbox release "Jet Set Radio Future". In particular, nothing was made for my two favorite characters, Cube and Mew (Bis in Japan).
I solved half of that by making a Cube of my own as pictured. I used a blank Microlady figure as the base- 1:18 scale, or roughly the size of a GI Joe. I used Tamiya Epoxy Putty for the hair, boots and some other details. I used scrap plastic from scale models for the wheels and spraycan (trimmed and adjusted).
I won't use Tamiya epoxy putty again for anything other than large rough forms now that I have Apoxie Sculpt. It's just much easier to work with.
The skates are currently held using blu-tack, while I adjust the pegs I put in them, and also to make changing over easier. I figure that I'll want to change or fix things later on, so I might as well make it easier on myself.
Yes, I know that the skates are too big- Tamiya putty carves like carving a rock, so I gave up on making them smaller. When I have free time, I will fix them later.
And naturally, I dropped one of the boots after photography, and one of the wheels popped off. I'll fix that later as well.

Here's an in progress shot, showing the base figure, and also a screencap of Cube.

And another in progress shot, showing the boots in progress. It also has a better picture of the spray can.
So, do you do any customizing work? Have you made any custom figures?

Very nice!. I've done a little conversion on some models, but nothing like this. However that might change soon :P. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks! It wasn't too hard, so I'm sure when you try it you'll do fine, too.
Ah, I had seen an in progress shot at 4chan awhile ago. Grats on finishing her up!
Oh and cuz I didn't answer the question on customizing... I have a custom doll that's been in progress for awhile. Need to redo the head still. I'm also interested in doing a custom microman figure since I have a few duplicate capsule toys, and they look like the right size to cut parts off of and bash em onto a body.
That doll sounds neat- will you be posting pictures here when you get it done?
Thanks! It wasn't too hard to do, I just didn't have much free time. Hopefully I'll get better at time management as I do more customization.
