Cycling in Nishi-Shinjuku
Woke up at 5:30 am this morning so I thought, what the heck, let’s go out and cycle around!
I just moved into the West Shinjuku neighbourhood a few weeks ago. It's around a 15-minute walk to the Square Enix office, which is where I'll work starting July (postponed one month due to Visa application). I finally got my lazy ass to cycle my bike from the old home in Yoyogi to the current one last week. Had to clean it and remove some of the rust, haven’t cycled in a while! Now that the rainy days are over, it’s time to take it for a spin today.
West Shinjuku is a really mysterious place, coz it’s so quiet and peaceful albeit being smacked right in the middle of the city. A city boy such as myself approves of this new enriching habitat ^^
Here are all the photos taken today, but if you're interested to read individual photo commentaries you're welcome to visit my blog: http://www.ahbonk.net/?p=1938

LOL! Nice!
I went up here when I was in Japan... Taking pix!
Love the photos!
Thanks :) Mostly photoshopped though, my Sony Cybershot camera is more than 5 years old already. Even had to crop them to make it look "wide" xD
He's secretly staring at you! o3o
Yea, trying to act cute in front of the camera too!
Sounds like things are going smoothly in Japan~ ^^
Yes they are ^_^ Just got my 3-years working visa, now I'm just worried about my finances here, things are expensive as usual :S
Love the photos of the back streets and such. I really like the fact that you don't need a car there, although I'm sure it would come in handy.
Cars are really handy coz taking a bunch of trains to go somewhere a little far can take a lot of energy from you. But maintaining a car here is really expensive, with all its tax and high petrol price. I'm very ok with my bike :)
This was good and I had it several times last week. Wish they were in the US.
u know u can get Yoshinoya in the US, i know there is one in braodway near a Subway exit in NY
Love the pictures, good stuff! Thanks for sharing! :)
I can't wait to go there myself. I'm going to apply for a scholarship early next year to go learn Japanese over there (studying at the Chilean-Japanese Cultural Institute right now, and they offer scholarships). Since I already have my major, I speak both Spanish AND English, plus learning Japanese, I think I'd make a good candidate. Who knows? I might get lucky :)
Wow sounds like a great candidate indeed! :) I'm pretty sure you'll get it, all the best!
If you have the contacts, try to secure a Japanese professor or lecturer to recommend you. It'll increase the chances of getting the scholarship. At least that's what I heard.
Great photos! Though they do make me miss Japan even more...
All you need to do is come here :)
Busou Renkin Anime? That Anime keeps popping into my mind when I see that tree and gate.
Nice pictures and liking the early morning vibe of the images. Its making me think of my many trips to Slovakia :p.
Busou Renkin? I was thinking of more slice-of-life school anime kind of direction though :)
ooooh Slovakia, haven't been there, really wanna go there :< you have any nice photos to share?
