A quick question....
I've decided on making a customized Dollfie Dream-Minami Chiaki, however, I have a few questions about some of the products.....
1. What colors does the ZM Acrylics - Basic Color Set come with? The Make Set is sold out so, just wondering if it comes with black
2. I had wanted use HDD-01 ( Here Sold out atm) as the base, but does anyone think that HDD-02 (Here same as Aoi) will work just as well?
3. Should i make her loli with the MDD body or a more mature version with a regular DD or DDDy body? I found that i could buy the K-On summer uniform for a simple base for her uniform, however it is sized for a regular sized DD body and not a MDD.
Anyways I'll be order the items soon and found many products that could make this dream a reality, but at the moment i will with hold on buying a body at the moment as i'll try to figure out which one i should go with...mature or loli... XD

Well, I own the basic ZM Acrylic paint set. It comes with paint thinner (which you will need plenty of. I suggest buying an extra bottle of it), tan paint, pinkish tan paint, light brown paint, dark brown paint, and an even darker brown paint. The color set of Acrylic paints has all the colors you could need/want/or can mix to make one you like for eyes and such.
I also own an HDD-01 head, myself for Manami. You should be warned her head is a bit bigger than normal Dollfie Dream Heads. I measured hers, and it was a lil' over nine inches around. This means some DD wigs could be an issue. (I bought a DD wig, and it was too small for her. I had to use a different type of DD wig which was more expensive, but fits well on her) You will also need a wig cap, since dark colored DD wigs will stain her head. You'll need to find a Large Wig Cap sold by Volks... or a secondary company on Ebay.
The DDy Body is near impossible to find clothes for, and the MDD body you can get cutsey MSD clothes to fit. But I would recommend you make a DD version. This way, if you want her with a bigger bust, all you have to do is change it. (You can also downgrade to a smaller bust, too!)

Okay thanks for the Info, I think i'll get the secondary option for her head as i found the perfect wig, but it's only for heads measuring about 7~8 inches only.
Umm.. Dollfie standard heads are 8-9 inches. ^^; Manami needs about a 9/10 wig for her head.

9/10 is WAY too big.
8.5" is closest to the average Dollfie Dream's head. So 8/9 is the best wig size, and best of all is a real Volks Dollfie Dream wig. There IS a difference.
I meant for HDD-01. I measured my HDD-01 head, and it was over nine inches around. I had bought a REAL Dollfie Dream wig for her, and it was a lovely short wig... but it took 2 people to get it on, and even so, it would pop off her head and go flying! Worst of all, when I did get it on, the wig cap showed, which it should never do. I managed to fit her in another Official DD wig, that was bigger, probably around an 8.5/9.5 wig if I were to guess.
I am merely saying that the HDD-01 heads are bigger, and may not fit standard Official DD wigs is all. But the other DD heads seem to be able to hand an 8/9 wig by volks or other companies just fine.

How old is she? ...if shes under 13~14 i would use a MDD body... if she´s older i would use DD ... with normal bust...

I really want to keep her anime accurate as possible, but i understand that there aren't as many clothing options for the MDD body, but i can always make my own -_-" but it would be interesting to see her a bit older, i might get both a MDD body and a DD body. The DDy body reminds me more of Haruka's shape though...
MDD is basically a "slim Mini" and there are plenty of clothes that will fit. If you get a protective undersuit from BeachGirlNikita, anything for MSD will more-or-less fit her. At least that's what my experience has been with my Namiko-tan.
Actually, if you want to be daring, you might want to go the Volbitsu route: a Volks DD head on an Obitsu 50cm body. Volks DD fleshtone more-or-less matches Obitsu "white skin." You will have to mod the hole at the base of the DD head so that the Obitsu head connecter will work. A hair dryer is your friend. Try to get a 800w instead of a 1800w model, or get an older hair dryer from a thrift store. Obitsu bodies can be gotten from The Junky Spot: http://www.junkyspot.com/ .
I think MDD suits her better than DD. :D
I agree that MDD is the way to go. As for the head I'd say #1 or #2. Head #3 seems to be to be have a feeling of a gentle and even shy character while #4 (my favorite) seems perky and cheerful. Neither of these really fit Chiaki's personality I think.
Have you thought about how to do her hair? I was just about to buy stuff I needed to make my favorite character, Ogiue from Genshiken. She also has a section of hair sticking up from her head:

I actually plan on doing some carving to fix the mouth a bit more to make her facial expression and i found the perfect wig. However i'll have to tailor it a bit to make her "ahoge" (if you can call it that) and it's just the right color and length too XD
I don't know anything about the character in question, but I've been looking at custom heads myself for ideas, and found this site helpful: http://momo-man.net/top_frame.html These heads are all done by the same guy, and you'll notice he gets quite a variety of looks out of the 01 and 02 heads. These might give you some idea as to whether the 02 head has the potential to get the look you want or not.

You're welcome! I just wish I knew of more sites like it. -_- It's worth checking the DD section on YJA on occasion to see what custom heads are up for sale there, though, since there's usually quite a few. Sneaky way to go idea hunting. ;)
