Hatsune Miku Figure Smells Awful?!!
Hey Guys, sorry for this post, I'm kinda annoyed with this figure.

I have been wondering for soo long. I have bought her from Amiami about 5 / 4 months ago.
She smells terribly. At first I thought that reason behind this was that she was brand new.

I also took her out at my balcony for couple of days, thought that air would help to dispose this smell. but no use.
every time I go inside my room, I still smell it =/
Does your world is mine figure smell like that? What should I do?

I don't have her but I heard that if ur figures smell, open a fan towards it(I try it on my figures and it worked)!
Hey! Thanks for the advise, I'm gonna try that too. :3
Mine doesn't smell any worst than any of my other figures. Unless I put my nose right up to I don't really notice. Does your whole room stink because of it?
yap, my whole room stinks because of it ; - ; and I reaaally don't want to say goodbye for this figure because of it's smell >_<
Had the same problem but it was Shana figma, it may comes from the rubber-like parts.
hmm, maybe you are right but, I even had an allergic reaction because of this smell :(
Last time I sprayed my deodorant on her to get rid of the smell before I knew it, that's not the right way to get rid of the smell. So I called it not recommended to use any air freshers or any relted to get rid of the smell. ^^;
You can use ventilation instead to get rid of the smell, it may take time though.

What is your average room temperature?
hmm well its about 19-22c is maximum.
Hmm, what's it smell like? Personally I love the smell of new figmas and nendo's but this is a PVC and I've never noticed them to have a smell.
Sometimes figures have a liquid substance on them to keep the paint from rubbing off or parts sticking (I think that's what it's for). Maybe try getting a soft cloth and wiping her off ^^
well it's definitely not a "fresh" smell, I have been displaying her since i got her.
thnx for advise *v*
this sounds stupid but open some soap in your room and put it next to your figure
its cheaper than air freshener spray and you'll hardly get allergic from soap smell
:D air freshener is a good solution to ignore the smell. I could do that but I'm afraid that this smell might be bad for health >_<
the smell is bad for your health. The PVC is off-gassing toxic fumes. >_<
I know this sounds insane, but you could also mix a 50/50 solution of Simple Green or a similar cleaner and let Miku sit for 10 minutes....works wonders on my figures every time i do it.
thanks! I will try that too :D
Woah! That's a good idea! It should clean off some of the machine oils and such too. Nice!
I feel your pain, this happened to me a little while ago! I opened all of me boxed figures at once and my room stunk for a few days. How is the ventilation in your room?
ventilation in my room is great, I always have my balcony door open to get a fresh air :D
I also have this Supercell figure.
And mine also have a weird smell though I only smell it if I put my nose too near to her.
None of my other figures have weird smell like this. :(
But since I just got her a few days ago from my friend, I haven't got time to try something to suppress the smell.
But my friends tell me to try wipe her, because the smell might came from the plastic wrap around her.
If all fails maybe you could get some display cabinets to conceal the smell.
I have a huge display cabinet, and I have tried to ignore that smell by putting her inside of it, but even worse happened. this smell went to all of my figures. but gladly when I took this Hatsune Miku figure out it disappeared.
Hmm... Is it the "fresh new" rubber/PVC smell? Many of the figures i bought including Saber Lily had that smell, but it's gone within 24 hours i took them out of box...
nope, this is not a fresh new pvc smell ; v ; ( I really like a smell of a new figure )
Lol foot odor! lol sad, but hmm, thats weird if its not the "new figure" smell. Can you try describe the smell :O?
Maybe you could try dunking her into water with detergent.
Could be humidity or something.. affecting the paint or the PVC material itself
I dunno, just making a wild guess ^~
It's normal. My room pretty much has no walls since it's studded with huge windows and whenever I leave the house, I leave the windows closed. When I come home in the night and open my door, there's this heat which probably accumulated in my room, and I can smell the PVCs. Once I open my windows, cool breezes start to enter getting rid of the smell alongside the heat.
This gave me the conclusion that prolonging a figure within a humid and hot environment is not a PVC-friendly thing to do. This is why they usually day you're suppose to set-up your figures in a room which has air-conditioner. Also, leaving a PVC-figure under the sun might not be a bright idea considering it could intensify the wax coating on PVC. In other words, it might worsen the smell when the PVC is exposed to heat. I've never tried it before cuz it sounds crazy... but I once thought about leaving my figure in the freezer to settle the wax on the PVC...
*This is why they usually [say] you're suppose to set-up your...*
yap but, I never leave my windows shut and I can still feel that smell, that's my prob ; _ ;
Huuuh? With your windows open all day long, I don't see how it's possible for the figure smell to accumulate so badly... Are you sure it's with your figures and not with something else like perhaps something from previous construction and such.
Hmm... I live in a tropical country and my room has a typical temperature of 30 degrees celcius without air cond, sometimes slightly higher but i'm having no issue with my figures with smell, or softening which led to leaning so far...
Mine doesn't reach 30 degrees celcius. I've NEVER had an issue with softening and leaning nor discoloration... discoloration may be the most common problem with living in tropical areas especially White-colored figures.
i washed her with shampoo XD Hope that it helps :3, I will write the result tomorrow.
Oh noes! Might not be a good idea since shampoo can wash away Matte-ness... Miku might turn shiny! XD Well, you can always spray topcoat on her if she turns shiny.
nope coat is still the same :3 smell disapeared a little bit :D
well, you could buy her a transparent box casing like I do to most of my figures (as seen in my post, it's pretty airticht, it even preserved the new plastic smell and keeps the dust away, cleaning off dusts may leave scratches on the figures) But I wouldn't recommend inhaling when opening it from a long period of sealed time.
Not trying to scare you, but I'm going to ask. Are you absolutely sure she's official? Because I've heard of recasts of certain materials producing nasty smells and fumes. She looks pretty official to me, but I thought I'd mention!
Best of luck!
my other miku hatsune figure smelled funny as soon as I opened her, but then it wore off
if I'm going to die for the smell, I'm dying with my daughters and small daughters. like a good captain that drawn with his ship xD
Yo queria esta figura pero cuando fui a la tienda a comprarla ya no estaba que envidia me da.....
