Tear Grants - Now available for preorder!
I've been waiting for this figure to release ever since the prototype was shown near the beginning of 2010!

Tear is the female lead from the RPG and anime, Tales of the Abyss, and I highly recommend trying out the game if you have an available copy! The anime is also good, but the style doesn't quite capture the "Tales of" feel like the game does~!
There isn't much info on the figure itself yet (aside from what I posted), but the prototype showed two different faces (a winking one and another with both eyes open), so we'll have to see what extras she comes with.

Unfortunately, the release date of this figure is set at late August, and I will have left to Japan before then. I don't know my new address yet, so it looks like I'm out of luck for pre-orders. orz And I know what you're thinking, "you'll be in Japan, so you can buy it later!", but I'd rather contribute to the popularity of this figure by supporting pre-order sales. What can I say, I want Milestone to make more Abyss characters~ XD (Preferably a Luke or Asch <3 ). This is, by far, my favorite game, so the release of a new figure is very big news to me! I haven't bought a figure since Christmas since I've been saving my money for my big move, but I'll have to budge for this one.
A lot of people are complaining about Tear's face, so I wanted to show everyone that the figure is NOT modeled after the game or anime, it was sculpted based off of this original character design sketch that comes from the ToA game illustration book.
Not really that impressed with this figure. Milestone sculpts are always kinda vanilla and this particular entry in the Tales series left me sorta flat. Thanks for the heads up, though.
Really? Comapred to the Tales of Kotobukiya releases, I think that this figure has an amazing amount of detail, especially in the folds of her clothes and the paint job. It looks very similar to the original concept art imho (since it was modeled after that sketch). I can see why you think that about Milestones other figures though. XD And I would say that her face and hair are lacking in some painting detail, but I'm still excited for it. /o/

Isn't she? I have the Kotobukiya Tear and Natalia too, and I would love to add this one to the set!

I might but then i'd get the urge to get all of the Tales of the Abyss girls. Her outfit is done really nicely and I think her expression could have been a bit better but it looks good with her pose. I'm going to have to re-watch the anime now XD. Thanks!
If you haven't seen the original game design sketch its based off of, I just posted it. It seems a lot of people were confused that the figure's face didn't match the game one, but I hope it makes more sense now. XD
I like the uniform but something about the face kinda ruins a part of the figure.
If you're talking about how the face is a little plain in comparison to the outfit, I agree. XD It's like they put all their effort into the uniform, then got lazy. However, I still love it <3 (and hope the released version will have more paint detail in her lovely face)

I just posted the sketch it's based off of, so I hope that helps you see the connection (even if you don't like it XD ). It would be amazing if she came with an extra face that resembled the game style too.

I would love any other Abyss figures! /o/ Definitely one of Luke, as well as both he and Tear based off the game or anime versions rather than the character design sketches like this one. But again, any would be love~

Hmm, I think the body has a great deal of details on it. But the face looks off. Doesn't look loyal to the tear in the game :(
Btw the game kicks ass, and its so long ,and so so so much side quests that I missed heaps. My Luke forever lacked like 3 moves or something since I didnt initiate the chain of events that leads to him obtaining some extra moves... FFFFFFFFFF
It was sculpted based on the original character sketch I just posted above. I think you can see the resemblance from that. XD
Also, /o/ <3 It's always great to see more Abyss fans! It's an amazing but unfortunately not very well-known game. It's certainly my favorite of the Tales of series with Symphonia second. I have replayed the game at least 4 times, and STILL end up missing something. XD I know how you feel, though I like that it isn't easy to complete.
I'm as excited as you are! I've been waiting for this figure for a long time. Its great that they're finally going to release her. Tear is one of my most favorite anime female characters of all time! There's no way I can pass this up. She looks so much better than Koto's Tear. I hope Milestone will be able to deliver on quality.
Woo! I'm glad someone is! \o/ I have been waiting for it for so long as well, and I was almost afraid they weren't going to release it at all! Even if it seems most people would prefer the game/anime design over the character sketch one, I'm just happy /anyone/ is releasing a new Abyss figure. And I hope the sales of Tear will encourage Milestone or other companies (since Alter is doing Vesperia boys), to make more characters! I would just love to see a 1/8 Luke with exchangeable long and short hair. XD Or Asch with exchangeable bangs up/down pieces. lol
