Stage 1 of my Halo Reach helmet complete!

Posted by Donpablo

After two weeks of folding, cutting and burning my fingers with the hot glue gun I'm done with the first step!

Next step, fiberglass and bondo --- and lots of sanding XD

Stage 1 of my Halo Reach helmet complete!

I'm really happy on how it turned out!

We'll I'm learning as I go along. Basically combing through the numorous tutorials over at 405th.com . I'd like to mold but may have to wait till next time. I plan on using fiberglass jelly in the inside part and filling out the spaces with the bondo. Any tips would greatly be appreciated by this first timer XD

Hey a fellow 405th member right here in Figure.FM !! Wassup buddy !

what GSM is ur cardstock ? it doesnt look rigid enough and ur helm is a little wraped. since this is your first time, it looks great for a first timer. And i would recommend using glue instead of gluegun. Gluegun sets to fast. with normal glue, you will have more time to correct the tabs allignment..and i think u got the scale right at ur first try !

Do update us your progress !

Haha I feel quite accomplished getting a compliment from a fellow 405th member XD . I'm using #110 Card stock since it was the most recommended to use. As far as the hot glue goes I was under the impression if you used regular glue the fiberglass jelly would melt away the adhesive. But I take it from what your saying thats not the case, in which case in the future I know now that I can use regular glue. Thanks for the tip and your kind encouragement!

110 cardstock sounds about right. but im using much thicker paper. Easier on the folds .. haha .. Nahh, regular glue would do fine as long u waited for it to dry first before applying the fiberglass resin.

ahaha .. no problem man ..good luck !
