The Comiket Experience
This is my first time to Comiket, boy... it was a crazy and wild experience. To be safe, I went to the Comiket 76 (C76) location, Tokyo Big Sight, as soon possible on the first train. Reached Tokyo Big Sight at about 6.30am crowd was really crazy as I expected, the C76 staff had to organise the crowd and separated them into several large groups.
C76 starts at 10am and I waited until around 9.45am when the staff ushered the groups closer to the entrance of the Tokyo Big Sight. This is the scene that I was faced with....

by this time, I got quite hungry because I last ate at around 5am for breakfast, and my bottle of water was depleting soon.

.... 40 minutes later, I got closer to the entrance and at about 11am I finally got in to the building ^^; (6.30-11.00 = 4hrs 30mins wait)

This is how the typical queues of booths look like, the booths are inside, just that their queues usually go all the way out side ^^;

First up, I stood in line to queue for my main objective, the GSC booth! Just look at the queue, I was at the 90% tail of the queue when I took this pic and yep, the booth is located at the furthest entrance you see above ^^;

GSC booth's offerings, you can easily guess what I am getting or you can find it out later in the post =P

Waited about an hour to finally get nearer to the queue and to see the booth!

Next, I went to queue for this anime T-shirt booth called Rondo Robe. They had the best price and look quite good, 2000 yen for 1 but one size fits all though. Other booths sell from 3000 onwards for a T-shirt. Because of the great price and nice designs, the queue for this lasted an hour too >.<

Love the Saber illustration on their booth, they sell the green shirt Saber's wearing but no shirt with this illustration on it :(
Next, I went to shop for other stuff and there weren't much queues, a lot of popular stuff were sold out though. Loots at end of post! ^^

nice looking shirt but this was 4000 yen!

was wondering where the cosplayers were... and saw this lovely Yagyuu Jubei cosplay :3

After 3 hrs inside and haven't gotten any food, I wandered out and finally saw the C76 cosplayers! They were located outside, and yep the pic above consists of cosplayers, photographers and the crowd.

There were sooooo many cosplayers here! and there were many others roaming around Tokyo Big Sight. The scale of cosplayers here is crazy! Sorry, no pics of them cos I was really really tired and there were simply too many of them to take pics of, just the Jubei is fine right? XD

After spending around 4 hours inside C76 area, I couldn't take it anymore.... I need rest! and yea, you need to queue as well to go back with the trains ^^:

and here are my loots, sorry, this bunk doesn't really have decent lights ^^;
Shining Wind posters + Digitowel (I have no idea what a digitowel is for, but it's like tablecloth material ^^;)
Nendoroid Reimu and a Saber T-shirt!

Comiket is really bizzare experience! That was the longest time I ever queued to get something I want... 4+hrs of waiting to get in + 2hrs worth of queues = over 6 hours!
They should just change their name to Comiqueue!
C76 will run for 2 more days, tomorrow and the day after.. I don't think I will be going anymore... too tiring ^^;
But it was a worthwhile experience! Not sure if this is going to be the first and last time I'm going Comiket... How about you guys? What do you think about Comiqueu-, I mean, Comiket XD

This expression best fits how I feel after Comiket and going back to my "bunk".
ahhhh~ :3

Comiket is always awesome... (well aside from the huge amount of people attending the event.)
Would love to attend one in this lifetime too.
yea you should, it's a great experience.. I think once is enough for me lol...
I've heard Comiket has alot of people but, your photos really show how many people there can be at the event. If you're that far behind and got there at 6:30, it makes you wonder when the people at the front lined up.
Suprisingly organised for that amount of people though. I'll have to go next year if I can!
I also see your loot, very nice. Shirt, wall hanging and a reimu nendo, nice!
yea some of them probably camped nearby and there are a few hotels nearby too ^^;
Thanks kushieda! The one with Xecty Elwing is just a paper bag though, not a scroll XD
wondering what's the digitowel (xecty) for... anyone knows... lol
woow.. xd
How long did you have to wait in line?
1hr or so for the popular ones like GSC, Type Moon etc ^^;
Glad you are alive! ^^
Where r ze cosplaying photos !!!
u want me to die? lol XD
was on the verge of fainting when I came out of the hall, then I saw the cosplayers area... I was like, "I will sure collapse if I take all those cosplayers" there are soo manyyyy
Just the Jubei is good enough right... =P
Reimuuuuuu :3
When I saw the photo with the "cosplayers" caption I played my own game of "spot the cosplayers" I saw a whole Geass group in that photo with lots of people. There was a Zero, CC, Shirley, Orenji and I think a Milly, Koenma got mixed in there somehow. LOL
Lol! I'd go crazy.... So many of them!!
Great report!
How long are you in Japan until?
6 more days! Until 20th august ^^
I'm going to Japan tomorrow but I won't arrive until the last day of Comiket. So unfortunately, I don't think I will get to go at all ;_;
There's always a next time! I missed TFS too when i arrived >.<
Wow....never knew that queueing at Comiket was thát bad. I'm not really the person to wait in line for hours so I guess I won't put this too high on list if I ever visit Japan ^^;
Haha yea.. I think i wouldnt ever go japan jus for comiket!
Your await come in good result. Reimu in your hand now :)
Haha yea, was worried couldnt get her since i was so far from the line, guess they stocked her quite a bit ^^
Wow! Didn't know you were heading to Comiket or Japan no less XD And gratz on your Reimu and other loots ^_^
Very nice T2 loots :D
Didnt i mention somewhere that if u were getting tickets, we would be going together XD
Yea, that's right... but I think that was Jakarta... Not sure about Japan ^^;
And I thought the queuing situation in Singapore was bad, (i.e. Getting into the KKnM booth during AFA 08)!
As an otaku, I want to experience Comiket at least once before I croak. =P
Yea.. It was a satisfying experience, queue until i dont want to queue anymore lol XD
Nyaa~! I want plushie Miku~!
Most plushies were actually sold in 3hrs... Guess gsc didnt stock much of those or they were too popular ^^;
Glad you return safely! By the time I arrive in Japan, comiket would already be over XDDD. I should arrive in Japan on the 19th.
Oh... I'll still be here on the 19th! XD
when are you leaving? fumoffu and I should arrive on the afternoon of 19th.
I'm leaving on the evening of 20th! Fumoffu o_O? Bonta dollfie? Lol XD
lol it sounds epic I am hoping to go next year, I want to go to Tokyo for a few weeks, may plan it around Comikit or Wonderfest, depends on the dates of them next year!
I want to go wonfes nexr time! ^^
awesome coverage, thx for the pics!
I have a lot more pics on booths but that will be too much so i focused on 'my experience' will upload the rest of the pics on flickr when i have time XD gald u liked ir!
Nice coverage, i loved your loot ^^
I wanna go to Comiket, how much money do you think you have/ SHOULD bring to this? xD If it was me, I'd totally bring like 1k =3=
1k dollars? Thats quite a lot! I controlled myself and spent just over 10k yen. Could have spent less but wanted to make my trip a bit more worthwhile
Wow the crowds are ridiculous. 4 hour wait! I would have passed out in the heat probably >_<
Lol, Comique. That's why I could never go to an event like that. XD But I suppose if you had a friend with you, or a game you'd be okay.
A friend would be much better, has to be a good friend too XD
That seems to be like human flood....
But it seems that the long wait is pretty worthy, isn't it?
Tell me about the Nendo you get there^^
Yea its worth the experience! Its nendo hakurei reimu, her review may come later if I have time when i get back to Singapore, maybe XD
Did you spend any time in the doujinshi area? I'll probably be going to winter comiket this year and was wondering how crazy the crowds are in there as well.
Nope, only passed by it, was badly beaten in rd 1 at the corporate area XD so couldnt bear to go cosplay or doujin area. Today, which is the 3rd day will be even scarier at the doujin area since the big names appear like tony taka ^^;
Wow, good review.
I read somewhere that its better to arrive at Tokyo Big Sight in the afternoon due to the long queues you find (and that you experienced) but i think if you do that you probably will miss a lot of goddies.
Well maybe they should open a little early...
Yea in the afternoon u dun really need to wait much to get but the popular stuff might be sold out or u still have to queue for an hour or so for them
TOO AWESOME FOR WORDS. NICE
Hai
want *.*
