First post (trying to shoot on a budget)
Been reading Danny's stuff for a while now, but seeing what everyone has been doing here has inspired me to try my hand. Only thing is i don't have much in the way of a figure collection.
The camera i have is a 7.2MP Sony Cybershot, and my "studio space" is a 8.5x11 sheet of paper held bent by a tissue box, lit by a common desk lamp.
The figures are trading figures from Disgaea - Hour of Darkness One Coin Figure Set. They are quite good for how small/cheap they are. (at most 3" tall, costing around $5)

Succubus monster from the game. They have very impressive eyes. (all 4 of them)

Rune Knight character class. To kill the shadows in this picture i turned off all the lights in the room, set the exposure for 15" and during that time waved the desk lamp across the scene once in an ark. like painting with light in reverse....

The lamp facing almost entirely away from the scene while a DVD case blocks the light for the lower half of the scene to make the light stripe.

Good start.
Another way to soften the shadows would be lighting through some big chunk of diffusing fabric or tissue-paper.
The last shot is really nice, considering the simple set up. Nice improvisation!
the mother of all invention.
Hah, I have that 6 buck random disega fig.
Course, was hoping for priest.
I ended up buying 5 of them, i was aiming for Enta. but i gave up when i got Jenifer for the second time. I also got an archer.
I would never buy any of these kinda of things with out checking in the store before i left.... but thats how you end up spending too much money
WOW! I love your Rune Night figure. And some very classy photos - Well done ^_^
thank you very much. its my favorite of the ones i have too.
