Fake nendoroids

The guys here were selling fake Nendoroids at London MCM expo:
http://www.theanimetal.com/search.asp?search=nendoroid
You could tell from the quality of the paint jobs (especially the eyes), visible casting seams on the hair, dodgy product boxes and lacking hologram/copyright info.

Looking at the site, they may also have fake haruhi:
http://www.theanimetal.com/search.asp?search=haruhi&offset=&prod_id=352&grpid=352&#prod_anchor
and fake figma:
http://www.theanimetal.com/search.asp?search=figma
(but I didn't see them in the flesh like the other nendos, so can't be sure.)

no problem David, wanted to make sure they're named and shamed for selling bootlegs for £40 a time. At least the guys round the corner from them were selling legit nendos :)

When we walked past, only Miku was left - the paintwork on her was terrible :(

      I feel bad for the people that spent out £40 on the Mio/Yoko ;__;

selling a fake is ok if the buyer and seller acknowledge its a fake and the price reflects this but this site is selling them at the retail price lol. go on ebay and u can buy fake miku for £8 but this site is asking for £35.

Are you really saying it's okay to buy a fake and not support the companies that make the real thing, but bootleggers instead?

(It's just my opinion, but I don't really agree with supporting bootleggers since they're just copying someone else hard work)

I don't think he means it's a good thing to sell fake figures but he's saying at least sellers shouldn't try to rip off/trick clueless consumers for dirty profit.

Yeah, that does happen sometime... Fakes can pop up everywhere. Even in Singapore, I've seen bootlegged Nendoroids at a number of conventions that I've been to.

Fakes are on my island nearly everywhere (S&J, Aw Yong, random hobby stores) except a few that I've tagged clean like Robot Master or Toon Shoppe...

lol in some countries they cant afford the real thing and have to make do, i remember one member on this site saying this. yes people who pay retail price expect the real thing and not be cheated. lol its like that foxcon thing in the news lately about iphone workers making the real thing wont buy it cuz its too expensive but they buy the fake iphone cuz its cheaper.

to be fair Tokyotoys are selling non bootleg figurines as I can see they have in stock figma ad Nendoroids which are legit. The only thing that annoys me is they are selling a lot of stuff like bootleg plush from china, keychains, cosplay items and stuff that just waste of money which are usually made in China.

Wait, what stall was this, what did the actual stall look like?

Was it the one where they had the more expensive figures, which they only carried one of, just out of their boxes? I bought a Ritsu Nendoroid with them and don't think it's fake but I can't obviously be sure as it's my first one.

Can't edit, but I guess from the site they wasn't selling a Ritsu, so looks like I'm safe for now. The other stall annoyed me for having most of their expensive stock out of the boxes though, put me right off buying them as they wasn't sealed.

i think ur safe, have yet to hear of a fake ritsu. her drum kit makes her the most complex nendoroid to manufacture - this makes her 500 yen more expensive than the average nendoroids like mio/yui or mugi. may i ask how much u paid for her?

It was about £35 (I think). It's only around £30 on sites like Hobby Search so I'm pretty sure I'm safe.

Those asking where their stall was...
If you look on the map from the free guidebook (or here: http://www.myebook.com/ebook_viewer.php?ebookId=37512 pages 21 & 22) they were stall 718-721, just to the right of the green Star Guests Signing area, funnily enough.

I bought a Nagato Yuki figma from another stall... I'm not sure which, I think it was one in 713-726), and I did all of my bootleg checks on her before I asked to buy it. She's legit so I'm very happy.
My girlfriend bought two figmas that weekend, Takamachi Nanoha (#005) from the same stall as my Yuki, and Canaan from... I'm not sure where. I think it was to the right (map-wise) of Tokyo Toys... MCM should really let stalls show off their names properly...

Anyway, I made all the checks and what we both bought all checked out legit. I guess it's just all about being careful and checking out for the bootleg signs before you buy.

I saw that! I could tell straight away with the Miku cause her paint job was pretty bad..I put it down straight away and didn't bother looking at the rest of the stall.
My friend has a fake nendo from there as well.

I'm def avoiding their shop in Camden from now on..I had my suspicions they were selling fakes, but seeing the Miku at expo confirmed it.

When I saw that they still carried L and Miku in their online store, I was so tempted to buy them strayghtaway...but just for safety's reason I emailed them to confirm their authenticity....and they told me that their products "are being imported from Japan".

I would have bought from them if they did not run out of stock...luckily they were out of stock, or else I would have been very disappointed...!

http://www.eyeonasia.co.uk/ - all the latest and greatest!
http://up1.co.uk/ - the have quite a couple of figma selection
http://www.otaku.co.uk - mostly magazines and artbooks

Not so sure bout this as i never buy from them before but seems legit
    http://www.kamikaz.co.uk/
