Figma Scale "Working" TV

Posted by Kodama

This is my latest project in Figma Scale Furniture. A "working" TV!
I made this with the guts from a Digital Picture Frame, and all the features of the frame, including the remote, still work.

As always, feel free to tag or comment...

Figma Scale "Working" TV

Here is the LCD panel and electronics board from the digital picture (DP) frame.

Mouseover = load notes.
Figma Scale "Working" TV

Here we have the back of the DP frame cut out and a styrene assembly attached to it. The black squares are the rubber panel mounts salvaged from the DP and glued in place.

This it the front of the TV.. The holes are for the buttons and infrared port for the remote.

Here, we have the front boxed in and the mounts for the button board glued in place.
The base is hollow, somewhat, and I have put lead weight in there to keep it stable.

And here it is, painted and being tested out by Saber..
LCD is sagging a bit on the left.. will shim that up later...

Mouseover = load notes.
Figma Scale "Working" TV

It cycles pictures at predetermined speeds. The on-board memory has 128mb, but you can install an SD card in the back and play the photos off of that too.

Mouseover = load notes.
Figma Scale "Working" TV

Here, you can see the buttons and the lens for the remote.
I plan to make dummy external speakers and do a little trim decoration, but otherwise complete.
In scale, it would be about a 52".

    On a side note: Going to bring this to any future figma photoshoots/gatherings?

      It's about 52" in 1/12 scale... Saber is a bit small looking as far as Figmas go... Tsukasa is huge next to her...

    Sadly TVs of that size, at a 1:1 scale will probably be too expensive to afford.

    And if it is not about the price, maybe a scene from HappyTreeFriends might leave anyone a little uneasy about sitting close to it.

    AWESOME!!!!! That is a great idea. I am sure it was not too hard to work with either. I had recently replaced the screen on my digital camera, and it was no problem.

    nyah >___________< i that's amazing nyah :3 i wunder if antique casing digital pocket watches would click nyah :3 you know it looks old on the outside, but opening it is just full of visual effects and stuff (themes and animations ex. miku or nekomimi maid, or something masamune-shirow-like steampunk)^^ making it touchscreen would be even better. add features of keeping birthdays, horoscope (now it needs an inturnet connection), lunar calendar, organizer, birthstones, keeps track of zodiac months (western) , and zodiac years (eastern) and pretty much the alignment of the stars and world time. well, that's just me nyah :3
