Figma Scale "Working" TV
This is my latest project in Figma Scale Furniture. A "working" TV!
I made this with the guts from a Digital Picture Frame, and all the features of the frame, including the remote, still work.
As always, feel free to tag or comment...

Here is the LCD panel and electronics board from the digital picture (DP) frame.

Here we have the back of the DP frame cut out and a styrene assembly attached to it. The black squares are the rubber panel mounts salvaged from the DP and glued in place.

This it the front of the TV.. The holes are for the buttons and infrared port for the remote.

Trial fitting the electronics.

Trial fitting the LCD Panel

Here, we have the front boxed in and the mounts for the button board glued in place.
The base is hollow, somewhat, and I have put lead weight in there to keep it stable.

And here it is, painted and being tested out by Saber..
LCD is sagging a bit on the left.. will shim that up later...

It cycles pictures at predetermined speeds. The on-board memory has 128mb, but you can install an SD card in the back and play the photos off of that too.

Here, you can see the buttons and the lens for the remote.
I plan to make dummy external speakers and do a little trim decoration, but otherwise complete.
In scale, it would be about a 52".

Awesome! Great work
That is...amazing... And Saber is going to lose her eyesight if she sits that close!
That's really cute! I've recently gotten into making figma-sized furniture, but I'm failing pretty hard. ^^;
That would be comparable to a 60 inch screen wouldn't it.
wow amazing. that tv is huge!! :P hope everyone remembers to watch their anime in brightly lit rooms and sit a good distance away.
no need modern LCD/Plasma tv have dimming ability when the room got darker and it also consume lesser
energy !!!
wow epic, Saber must be enjoying it!
Now thats home entertainment! Nice job Kodama!
Haha, now thats a kick ass tv. Going to decorate it and give it a your own brand name? lol. Can't wait to see the speakers as well.
On a side note: Going to bring this to any future figma photoshoots/gatherings?
Very cool, perhaps need a bigger room now :P
Got that already! Just didn't have a free power outlet near enough to use the "Mega-Di: stage"...
Most amazing!! Excellent Job, sir!!
(O.O)
<bows> Arigateau..
Epic!
Well played sir. Well played. All she needs now is the surround sound.
It's coming... Maybe by next weekend...
It is a very big TV's are very happy with Saber.
That's awesome!
Saber is living the suit life, lucky devil :P
Hmm, the tv is way big than the figma...
Just my opinion!
It's about 52" in 1/12 scale... Saber is a bit small looking as far as Figmas go... Tsukasa is huge next to her...
Sadly TVs of that size, at a 1:1 scale will probably be too expensive to afford.
And if it is not about the price, maybe a scene from HappyTreeFriends might leave anyone a little uneasy about sitting close to it.
ah awesome
good job~
Now you just need a High class House with a large TV.
Well, personally, I have a 42" LCD TV.. And I live in a condo... Or were you talking about for the figures?
Have you seen the little digital photoframe keychains that you can buy? Maybe that would be a great idea too ^^
Going to use one (already have it) to make a "PC" for the girls... Just need keyboard and rodent... ^_^
Ooh, very cool idea. I look forward to seeing it ^^
Heh, like I said, you should go work for Goodsmiles haha. Your furniture, TV, and soon PC would be nice Figma accessories product lines :P.
Can't wait to see the PC now heh.
Awesome TV!! Congratulations, it rocks!!! Looking forward to the PC you're making
Well done~
AWESOME!!!!! That is a great idea. I am sure it was not too hard to work with either. I had recently replaced the screen on my digital camera, and it was no problem.
The electronics are unmodified, but other than the back part I cut off of the DP, it's all hand built..
GENIUS!
Awesome stuff!
That is SOOOO COOOL 8D
wow, you have some handy skills, I must say...that is pretty awesome ^^
You should put pics of anime so it looks like they are watching...anime hehehe X3
great job, now they have a cool big screen tv :)
WOW
you are really an awesome man
nyah >___________< i that's amazing nyah :3 i wunder if antique casing digital pocket watches would click nyah :3 you know it looks old on the outside, but opening it is just full of visual effects and stuff (themes and animations ex. miku or nekomimi maid, or something masamune-shirow-like steampunk)^^ making it touchscreen would be even better. add features of keeping birthdays, horoscope (now it needs an inturnet connection), lunar calendar, organizer, birthstones, keeps track of zodiac months (western) , and zodiac years (eastern) and pretty much the alignment of the stars and world time. well, that's just me nyah :3
it's no iphone or anything, just a fancy watch :3
