Medieval Festival

Posted by Kodama

My Sister took me off to a Medieval Festival that they are now holding once a year at "Upper-Canada Village" near Morrisburg, Ontario.
It was a lot of fun, even though the weather was a bit soggy when we left Ottawa.
We also attended the "Kings Banquet" Saturday evening, which was a cross between a dinner theater and a farce..

This guy was the announcer for the jousting events.. He was both funny, and just a bit smarmy...

One of the Knights charging along about to try to cut an apple off the helm on a target..

Mouseover = load notes.
Medieval Festival

About to hit the apple.. They hit more often than not, given the size of the target.

The horses are "rescued" and are all just beautiful. After the joust, for $5.00 you can buy a piece of broken lance and the proceeds go to the upkeep of the horses.

They really go at each other.. you can see pieces of the lances flying away here.. They are solid ash, by the way..

Ok, I admit It was the girl I was taking a picture of..

CHARGE! ... And yet more broken lances

A lady with an owl. One of the demonstrations they were having..

The village Idiots.. The guy on the right was belly sliding in the mud, just before this..

"Why yes! I am a Knight who says NI!"

Mouseover = load notes.

The four horsemen?

One of the older "Knights".

At the banquet. My Sister on the left, with some "ladies" we met.

And here is me just before going into the banquet. My sister made the outfit.
