So I heard you like Daft Punk 2. Electric Boogaloo
So here comes the next part of my progress on my Daft Punk helmet! Been hunkering down at Crimotaku 's place here in Hobart,Tasmania. We've been hard at work on this frustrating prop, but it's finally coming together :D
My biggest thanks goes out to Crimotaku for all his advice and help regarding this helmet. Without his help,I wouldn't have been able to make it.
Cant wait to debut it at Supernova Sydney on Saturday!

The helmet as of a few hours ago! Still a bit to go before it's complete! Frame has been chromed up and the ear pieces have been completed :D (You can see it on the bottom of the pic)

When we last left off,my helmet had just gotten its last coat of bondo and was being sanded to smoothness! After lots of dust and me turning into a very dirty ghost later,it was done!

In Hobart, I got down to the business of making the gloves. Printed out my template, then cut the pieces out of a plastic hat.

Got my hoody all blinged up! Lots of sequins were lost in the battle to pimp my jacket.

The finished clip system and back plate! The back plate now clips nicely into the frame via two clips.

Crimotaku doing a little touch up on the finger bits that have just been chromed :D

Here we have the back plate just after it got grinded to make little grooves for the wires to be wrapped around.

And here we have the frame and backplate undergoing the installation of a clip system devised by Crimotaku. The back plate would be able to clip onto the main frame for easy access to any electronics I would plan to install in the future.

Back over at the helmet, we cut out the visor section and the back plate. These would then be primed with black primer which would serve as a surface for the gold chrome paint to stick to. The visor piece would become the mold for the PET-G plastic to be vacuumformed to.

The pieces after priming!

Purchased a big piece of PET-G plastic for the vacuumforming.

First attempt at a vacuumforming test went smoothly! But the worst was yet to come. The first trial attempt at making the visor went awry and we had to scrap the first visor test. Instead of a nice curved piece of plastic, we had created something in the likeness of a Warhammer 40k landscape. -_-

Lookin' good! Love Daft Punk, can't wait to see the finished work!
holy crap nice job my man! I can't wait to see the final product =D
Very cool. I was thinking there should be a dollfie size versiin of this as well.
Looking good bro, will it be done in time though?
Nice, cant wait to see finished version
Looks like you used a Ja-Ja Binx mold here?
