A Trip to Beijing (Day 0)
So I published this yesterday but I didn't know if it showed up or not?? Oh well.
Anyways I leave for Beijing tomorrow (or rather later today) to stay with my uncle. For the next two weeks I will be documenting my happenings every day while I search for manga, anime, figures, or any trace of otaku culture in the capital of China. Why am I doing it? Because I thought it would be a good idea to share my trip with everyone. Or more or less I just feel like it. ^^
I just realized that figure.fm may be blocked in China. If thats the case then I cant blog my trip until I get back! T__T
Any chinese people on here to refute this?
Pic semi-related. Who should I bring with on my trip?
<insert remark here about showing off figure collection in an somewhat-unrelated post>

Notice something odd?

Other shelf of figures.

Figure.fm shouldn't be blocked in China so you should be able to blog away your adventures!
Im in Beijing right now too! 1 month vacation = 3 weeks China + 1 week in Japan. Obviously figure.fm isn't blocked since I'm typing this to you XD. If you got time to head down to Shanghai, which you probably will for the World Expo (be prepared for long lines, Japanese Pavilion was 2.5 hour wait and that was with a handicapped person DX even for food you gotta line up...), you might want to stop by the Alter-Shanghai showroom.
It's on the 2nd floor of a place called Dong Hua Cheng (1856 Nanjing Xi Lu/Nanjing West Road, Shanghai) or something like that and opens around 12:30. The store is the Chinese branch of Hobbystock. It's one of the few authentic/non-bootleg stores on the floor.
Figures there are probably cheaper than what you would find Japan/online since there is no tax/shipping. Plus, everything is new too. I got Kyon and Koizumi figmas for 100 CNY each = around 15 USD each, figma Haruhi Summer Fuku for 150 CNY = around 22 USD, and Hetare Saber Nendoroid for 260 CNY = around 38 USD.
Sadly I am not going to the World Expo... I would like to go but I am stying in Beijing the whole time. T__T It sounds fun though.
My parents went to the World Expo and be glad that you aren't going. There are just simply way too many people and you have to wait in line for hours and hours to get into most of the buildings. My parents just took pictures outside and called it a day.
Nice shelves.
