A Trip to Beijing (Day 1)
Nothing much happened as today was all traveling.
I forgot my power strip at the airport! T_T oh well, I'll just buy a new one...

SFO Airport was pretty dead today. Check-in had no line and was absurdly fast (although after I was done a tour group immediately queued up creating a line ^^) and security only took me ten minutes to get through, so I had two hours to kill at the gate. I sat down and took out my laptop and caught up with some Jigoku Shoujo episodes. I have been meaning to watch it but years passed and I totally forgot about the series...

Even though I was early to the gate there were already so many people waiting and it was hard to find a seat.
---Time lapse!---
After a painstaking 12 hr flight with generally crappy food and a ruined in-flight movie (Chinese-subtitled Sherlock Holmes...in SPANISH AUDIO. >.<) I finally set foot in Beijing. I really hated being in a flight that does not have a small TV in front of me so I was stuck with my own entertainment. My laptop doesnt have enough battery power for twelve hours, and I only got to watch three episodes of Jigoku Shoujo in the plane.

That's not fog...

I didn't know Air Canada goes to China!

I like how the super large Beijing airport is always super empty after the 2008 Olympics.
I got picked up by my cousin and we took the train to his place. The apartment was really small (especially when the living room was turned into office cubicles) and I basically got the bed that was in the hallway.

This is the tiny desk that I am typing on.
For the trip, I brought three cameras with me. My phone camera, an old Casio Exilm, and a new Panasonic Lumix underwater camera that takes better pictures than my Casio.
Well, not much happened today. And I am jet-lagged as well. Hopefully tomorrow will be more interesting.

Waaaah! I'll be visiting Beijing pretty soon.. how is it so far? XD
Kinda of a bad start... I got bug bites all over when i was sleeping. XD
i've only ever been to China once and was nearly arrested, the chinese r not used to the concept of freedom. thou i have been to Hong Kong many times i dont consider it as a part of china. being half chinese myself i am sure the people of HK would never want direct rule from Beijing.
Care to explain what you did to get yourself "almost" arrested? I cannot imagine what you might have done... I mean I've seen foreigners in China drinking beer out of a piss pot in the public and singing pirate tunes and not have a thing to worry.
I would like to know how you got "almost" arrested as well.
taking pics of buildings, must have been a government building. i even know of one person who had their camera taken off them and smashed to pieces infront of them.
I have the same camera as u!!!and I'm not getting a new one since I'm saving up so lucky you that got a new camera!!
It's been a good decade since I step foot in Beijing, but I have been going back and forth between SF and a different city in China, as well as Hong Kong. Looking forward to seeing pics of Beijing and reading about your adventures! I personally don't like China that much it feels so restricted and as you already experienced the air is pretty bad the people as well. How's the weather treating you?
The weather is about 34 Celsius during the day... But at least its dry heat. XD
Air is pretty bad, but its like when LA had smog (wasn't that a long time ago? lol) and the people are okay here. How do you think China is restrictive?
