Knockoff Miku Dissapoints...

I'm making this as a little warning to buyers. We all hear of knockoff products but some ignore.
BE WARNED! I recently purchased this Hatsune Miku Nendroid petit from a dealer at a con and only later found out the mistake I had made. So always use trusted sites (like the one's that Danny vouches for!). It may cost more sometimes but still worth it

Didn't you check the contents out first? I mean come on.. The difference is so obvious, how can someone still buy that xD
OMG it's very obvious that's a fake. I wouldnt mind if i got her for 3 dollars, but the dealer will be on my must-kill list if i bought something like that for the original price.
sorry, forgot to add. I got it for about $5 so not so bad a loss
You see that's PRECISELY what they want you to think of it as.
Since it's cheap they want you to think it's not worth the trouble going back and try to get money back.
However, there are fake BRS cannon ver. out there trying to sell as if it is authentic.
Nevermind, $5 itself is already a rip off.
Maker price for Puchi set is 5,714 yen and it contains 12 individual nendo puchi figures.
So basically you paid near full price for a fake knockoff.
where did you get her? ebay?
Looking a little derpy there, Miku. :V
Yeaaah I'm very careful at conventions, if the price is good but the box looks "fishy" (no known manufacturer brand name on box for example) or if on closer inspection the paint job looks below usual standards, I leave it there cuz its most likely bootleg.
yeah always check the content before you buy it. i made a similar mistake when i bought a cheap mikuru figma which to my dismay was a bootleg. ended up blowing the fig and remind myself to find the shop and tell them to not sell bootlegs and conventions in my area, they condemn fakes. just hope they dont turn up when im at the next con, otherwise they will get a bit of lecturing from me. as for your purchase, it should be quite obvious it was a inferior KO. most GSC stuff have see through plastic where you can see what the fig looks like and always ask the seller questions in regards to the product. nothing you can do about it im afraid unless youre willing enough to find the seller and tell them you want some sort of reimbursement. i did one time for buying a nendo miku and i told them if they didnt refund me ill make sure i will tell the organizers of the con that theyre selling bootlegs. so i got reimbursed the amount paid for the inferior KO and then some. no business likes to lose customers and sales and none lieks to be put in a spotlight for selling fake goods. but thats how i did it and it worked for that time
Well it's a lesson learned, and from now on, just be careful. Even if the price is to good to be true, always inspect. As excited as you may be, remember to check XD that's my two cents for convention outings. Anyways i hope you have better luck next time in obtaining an official miku
You'll never know, might be the one on the left were shopped and the one on the right were real.
-- I was being ironic about the shopped pics of 3d women state of affairs, obviously. Be careful next time, man.
Holy........ It's Elmer Fudd as a crossdresser!!!!
>o<
Oh I see.. there's not enough of a curl to her left leg >.<"
Gets me every time.
On a side note.. the fake one could pass for bubblegum. Hmm Leek flavour.
Bit of an odd choice for a primary school project...
well...you can always light it on fire as a sacrifice to the PVC figure gods.
+1 just to get rid of it
I have to say the difference is really clear, so I don't know how you didn't make the connection.
Hmm... Looks like a chocolate for me...
thos differences are so obvious.
and cos its cheaper people always falls for them.
/facepalm.jpg
It disappoints me that there are people who would probably buy clay sculptures of figures colored with sharpies and be totally unaware they're fake.
Lol, $5? I got the whole fake set for $7. (actually, I dunno if that's a good thing to be proud of...)
On the other hand, I knew I was buying fakes. So its kinda disappoint if you were expecting the real one.
Pretty chubby... ^^;
Geez, that's one of the worst bootlegs I've seen, and that's saying something o_o
Always, -always- check out products that you want to buy before you even think of getting out your money. Just because a seller is in an "official" place like a con, that means nothing. If the seller wants to make a sale, then they'll be fine with you checking. Unless of course they're not very happy with you because you're about to discover their secret...
funny face Miku :d
Wow, that. is. fugly...
This one looks terrible......
Please check official website or some trusted blog before buying.
What a horrible Miku!! How come the different is so big!!
tat obvious!!!...but some how there is more better knock off...sligthly different from original...
Oh come one now they're not even trying
DO NOT WANT!!!!!!
The actual price of a real one should be around $5, they don't even give you a deal for selling a bootleg.
nyaarrr me is bootleg~~~ !!1!
That's not miku!! And it looks like she's holding CELERY!!
Well, though which one you bought is obviously a fake (it goes too far...), real ones won't look as good as they are in official ads either ... *GRIM*
you should turn it into a candle lmao
ZOMG.. its Sader reincarnated as Miku !
Although people might think a Con is a good place to buy stuff, that's wrong. Many cons, as long as dealers pay the fee to put a booth, they don't usually check till it's too late. One indirect experience I witnessed and pretty embarrassing was in one AX, can't remember which year. That year the director and the character designer for the Oh! My Goddess OVAs and Movies were guest, (NOT the author Kosuke Fujishima, btw). One book dealer, was selling an art book at really low price like $15-20 against $35+ one would usually cost. If you look at it, it was obviously a bootleg, no japanese, dubious broken engrish and no publishing company name printed on it. The really sad part was that tons of people bought that bootleg book and brought it to the signing sessions!
Just a question, did you buy her in a blind box? I think it would be helpful to a lot of us if you show us the blind box she came with (considering she's obviously a bootleg when you look at her directly). That way, fellow members would know how the blind box of a bootleg could look like.
Sorry, but I can't help but facepalm at the fact that you think a bootleg nendo puchi is okay if you bought her for $5. You can easily look around here or LJ garage stores and get an authentic puchi (not necessarily Miku) for the same price!
Hopefully, this will make you more careful the next time you shop at a convention :)
