Sitewide Puchi Blurbs

Sitewide Puchi Blurbs

You may have noticed a few feature - Sitewide Puchi Blurbs. Its just called "chat" at the moment while we still work on it.
You can blurb each other from any page on the site (apart from backend) and the puchi blurbs will show what page you blurbed from.
This new functionality gives you another way to reach out to your comrades.

You can keep it turned off by minimizing it but if you do use it then you can drag it to the side of the page.
I want to look at functionality so that you can turn it off completely via cookie (so that it not load when you open multiple tabs) or keep it alive only on the top page like before. Will also explore a break out so that you can have it in a completely different window.
Also want to have a separate page for this so that you can view on an iDevice.

Let Chris and I know if there are problems. The main problem I've seen is that a few veteran users think that the puchi blurbs should be for just a few users and that new folks shouldn't use it. The site is for everybody to use.

Also let us know if you have requests for improvements of this feature. Will push this out to DC probably later on in the day. FF and DC will have separate streams.

Ah, do you want notifications when somebody comments somewhere or logs in shown up in the puchi blurbs?

And to let you know we know about the bug where the chat keeps refreshing even when the chat is hidden - will fix today.

+1; I'm not sure if I'm banned from DC.com. But when I try to log in I get redirected to a PHP error documentation page.

            But a PHP documentation instead of a message saying "you're blocked from logging in" will always make you wonder WTH is wrong D;

It's just a hunch. But I couldn't log in anymore right after I posted a negative comment in your entry featuring a certain cosplayer for OTACOOL 2. The comment wasn't bashing anyone, it's an expression of disappointment. But I couldn't access my DC.com account within the same day after I posted that comment, which is why I think I was banned.

Umm, I'm not sure if its just cause I'm on a laptop, but to me it feels like it was just an extra layer added on top. Like a last minute thought, don't get me wrong it's awesome we can now surf without having to open new tabs. But I think it might be the colour it just feels like it wants attention...if that makes sense??

Err whoops for example, I'm not sure maybe a side bar??? so a section of the website page is devoted to just the chat? Not too much too that the rest of the site is cluttered but enough that you can read with ease and if you want you could pull out to resize the website ??? Hope that helps :P

just an update for the iphone ->
Vertical mode is the only way to view the chat box but you are gonna miss out some text. at least 4 guys with a single sentence is how much it can take. Also there's no way to view history. ( no scroll bar or more button exist )

As for horizontal view, the box seems to go all the way top and you won't be able to see what you are typing or even the update button.

Hmm, its nice and smooth on my end but I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Maybe add a mini pop-up history containing your username name (or parts of it)? If the chat is going too quickly it might be helpful allowing you to catch up quickly. Probably might be messy, just an idea though.

Second thought I head was to maybe have the chat window pop up in its own window like Gmail chat. Not sure how well that might work.

Custom color scheme for chat that only they could see as they get picky with their own themes lol.

I actually thing its good as is though.

I personally like it that you can access it sitewide. :3 Maybe an option to close the window completely like putting a close button in the corner for everything to close?

Just wondering, are you using AJAX for this? o.o

A squishy mode, like the task bar when you move it around, right side left side up or down. And can be re-sized too. Maybe. I like the drag n drop mode where you can move it move it.^^

Love the feature! THinks its a great idea.. Only thing things would make me love it more. One removing the update button.. and just write and press enter to put ya text in. (But thats really a minor issue in a full blown web browser). The thing that would be the ultimate in icing on the cake for me.. would be able to access it on my blackberry.. some reason It and Figure.fm just don't get along.. it can access the mobile version ish okay.. but, then no blurbs.

There is difficulty accessing the blurbs on low resolution systems like netbooks 800x600. It is still possible to open the chat but moving the chat window is impossible since the button to move the chat is out of reach and off the viewing area. The text input area is also not accessible on the low resolution =(.

Though I am sadly having a problem with it.
Right now when I try to post something, the top is totally cut off

I'm using FireFox as my browser.
Also I can only see the three latest blurbs.

I like the idea though I think it may work better with larger monitors or "wide screen" type monitors. On my 18 inch screen with 1280 by 1024 resolution it does feel a bit cramped but its much better today with the option to move and resize, nice new features ^^.

Also minor detail, I notice if you accidentally drag the chat window up too much, then you can't get back to the button to move it back down unless you switch the browser in full screen mode (F11). Maybe it would be nice to have that button to move on the bottom of the window too (not sure if possible)?

I personally would prefer a whole page dedicated for the chat as I'm the kind that browse with several tabs open but I may be a minority? ^^

Yes please. The format for IRC could be a nice template for the design. Of course, there ought to be Web 2.0 layouting but a straightforward chatroom would be awesome, with pop-ups or prompts inside the chatroom whenever a new post is made in figure.fm, including a link. So it's like there's the figure.fm page with a small chat window, then there's the main chat page with small figure.fm pop-ups showing up for new posts/comments.

Man. I'd be in here all day if that were the case.
