Stores in Akihabara?

Hey guys. I'm in Japan currently and just for fun, we're going to Akihabara for most of the tomorrow before we take the shinkansen home. So anyways, we need to do some serious planning so I would like to know what stores there are. If you guys could let me know what anime stores there are there that doesn't have eroge or some stuff that's seriously ecchi in the front of stores. (I'm with my parents so thats why) Only place I know that's there is Animate. Anyways if I can get you guys' help then thank you!

    K-Books
    Animate
    Toranoana
Radio Kaikan (Kotobukiya Store, Revoltech Floor and Azone Store)

Basically, just walk down Akihabara and see which store tickle your fancy. Sad to say that there will be Eroge/Ero Doujin/Manga pretty much anywhere books are sole. (^.^;)

Check out this video which I made during my time in Japan and see if it helps you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpc3RY5jLoo

It depends what you're looking for. Larger chain stores like Animate have a range of different anime goods but smaller ones often specialize in specific types of merchandise.

Sofmap has several different branches dotted all over Akihabara, and one of them is for anime goods. It's quite small compared to places like Animate, but sometimes you can find things like recent figure releases for very good prices. Also, if you go to very the top of the main Sofmap store you can find loads of second-hand games for very good prices (Japanese versions, of course). The other place that's good for figures is one of the Liberty branches (I think it might be number seven?) which can be a little tricky to find as it doesn't advertise itself very well. It's a little way down from Animate (away from the JR station) and is characterised by being full of display cabinets and having a tall, narrow flight of stairs on the left hand-side of the shop.

If you want cheap manga, Book-Off (go straight ahead from the Electric Town exit of the JR station and turn right when you get to the main road and it's just around the corner, I think) has second-hand manga very cheaply (as little as ¥105 per volume for many things) along with DVDs, CDs and games that aren't exactly cheap usually, but are less than the usual retail price.

Other than that, there are so many little stores that the best thing to do is just explore. You'll be hard-pressed to find somewhere completely devoid of adult material, but it's often tucked away if you can't see it from the street.

I was also able to detect another secondhanded store where you can find most of new releasing eroges for half of price. On the back of the side opposite to the visible Sofmap at cross-section, if you keep going ahead on the direction away from station there will be a small store with red sign. I dont remember what its name but sure the rare stuffs are cheap. Mandarake is also a choice for rare hunters, but they have painful price tags.

Sofmap, Gamers and Animate were some of my faves. I also liked the small stores that don't really jump out at you and you just need to explore going door to door. If you have the time to do that of course. Hope you enjoy Akiba as much as I did
