If your entry is not in the screenshot then you must tag it "dollfiesummer2009"
Now, because there are so many lovely daughters, I really don't want to be the one that decides - I've rather have you decide instead. I don't have any voting mechanism ready on Mirai Gaia but will launch a favoriting system in mid September - a month from now. You will be able to favorite posts and see them all in a single view.
I want to make it so that the most favorated entries get the goodies - would this be OK with you?
Thanks again to HobbyLink Japan for sponsoring this giveaway. For those who don't know, you can find a load of clothes that fit your Dollfie daughter in their Doll section.
Update on the Miss Dollfie contest...

RICEBOWL!!! I want that shimapan!! and that red Cheongsam looks delicious!!
As far as the "faving" system goes, how would it work? I'm assuming we can only add a post to our favorites once. And as far as things go, I'm quite sure that the general population isn't all into dollfies.
For the purposes of this giveaway, may i suggest capping the number of favorites one can do so as to avoid everyone favoring every single entry. say a cap same as the number of giveaways perhaps.
Oh and another thing, would it be possible that we cannot add our own posts to our favorites that way it would be unbiased.
Hmm... I wonder if the favorites system will track the user who likes it. If it's liked by the user who posted it then it loses one point or something? But Danny can also get everyone who posted one to favorite their own to be fair :)
Ohh the China Dress and Bikini is really nice ^^
I'm split on the notion of favorite entries get the goodies. Can people favorite and unfavorite in case they favorite and a newer post comes and they like that one better? What's is too prevent people from making many new accounts and favoriting themselves? Can there be an actual voting system that can't be abused? (I can't think of one but I am also working on 2 hours of sleep XD)
I actually prefer you to decide Danny ^^;;
Lovely additions to the prize!
What if there are ties in the polls? Maybe have the "parent" submit a new picture and we can vote on the finalists?
the prize is awesome
I might just end up favourite-ing every single dollfie entry because everyone's daughter is just gorgeous!
That's what I was thinking too unless he puts a temporary cap on how many we can fave.
That's right too...and another thing I thought of was that...does that mean we have to go through every single posts in the past too? Otherwise, this wouldn't be fair to the ones who have already submitted long ago.
Considering I lead the thing off, yeah, I'm at the tail end of the list. I would end up voting for all of them myself, lol.
Danny, how can I upload more than one picture in a post here? Cause I see all the user's reviews with lots of photos, but there's only room for one image in the uploader box. Thanks!
Upload the first pic and then the post will be created.
After that you edit the post and go to the "Edit Images" option to add more pix!
Thanks a lot! ;)
Nice to see more prizes, but most importantly, I have strengthened my bond with my daughters, it's been a great experience for me nonetheless.
Yeah it was fun to have an "excuse" to go and take some better photos of our daughters. It was the first time I did some sexy undies photoshoot of them too XD *nosebleed*
/Nod head repeatedly
It was a good excuse indeed, I never thought I would actually drive them out to the preserve and drive them around literally. It was great! I think through various experimentations I got to understand the pose-ability way better than I ever was.
My daughters have wayyyyy more sex appeal than I ever thought, nosebleed did not stop during ths shoot! XDDDD
Really I agree with Wolf, Just been lots of fun to do. But on the note of voting.. Honestly.. We who made posts.. I think it would be unfair for us to even vote on our favorite.. cause, lets face it.. the temptation is too great to vote for your own. I see no way around this quamire unless you got a seperate panel to vote on the dollfies.
But, also.. Some of us, I know myself.. Aren't really great photo takers, so this has been a great learning experiance.. but, if the photos are less the spectacular.. that sorta puts us at a disadvantage... Know what I mean?
Nice prizes~ Not sure how the favouriting would work out, would like to hear more on it ^^
I haven't seen all the entries but out of the ones I did see, it would be VERY hard to pick just one. I might be able to narrow it down to 5 enteries with some difficulty. Also looking forward to seeing how the favoriting will work out.
Wouldn't it be a bit unfair that you pic your favorites before you have seen all the entries?
It would indeed. I plan to view all the entries before picking a favorite/s as the case might be.
How would the favourite thing work? I've seen horrible cases of 'community voting' on doll forums before. Don't want this to turn the same.
For voting to be fair and meaningful, people voting should be doing so after viewing ALL the entries. However, there's many entries to view, so people may be voting after seeing only half or just a portion of the entries, and the result of the voting will be a bit random I guess. I'd prefer if there were "judges" assigned who will seriously review each entry before choosing their favorites. Well maybe I'm just taking it a bit too seriously lol, most important is I had an excuse to go and take some new doll photos ^^.
I like the idea of a little judge panel, like a real beauty competition, i think it would be cute. Could be tough to pick members of the community who are reliable and un biased though.
If it does go to members voting, I've already decided how I'll pick my 'winners'. I wonder what other people will pick. It's so exciting.
Bleh! I just realised it was a screenshot so not individually clickable - took a second though ><
Mmmh, dunno about that favouriting thing. If i were to chose, i'd rather have Danny chose the winning doll himself (maybe with the help of waifey ;)).
I konw that on our french figure messageboard we elect a figure each year as "the best figure of the year", using polls for pre-selection (everyone puts in his 5 best choice, results are pooled and we keep the 3 bests), and for final selection, and it was quite fine. Don't really think it would apply here anyway...
That's not a bad idea actually. but we'll still have to see how the voting system goes here now won't we. :D
I don't think the favoriting system will be fair
thats because friends will always vote on each other
and some people will make more profiles so they could win
Also I think some people will vote on a post just because they like the character more than another character
and not because of the scene, quality, clothes
Isn't there a better solution in making a pannel
like a few judges?
Well, honestly.. I agree.. The other problem is.. Not that anyone was wrong for doing so.. I stuck in a photo that wasn't fitting the exact rules of the contest. And of course some of us, have dollfies that aren't liscensed dollfies, so they don't fit the original contest description.. Showing pics in the underwear, outdoors clothing, and Liscenced clothing. Know what I mean? I could've pulled out a lot more outfits, but I stuck with what rules were originally posted.
Honestly I hate to say it comes down to.. this is one bugger of a contest to judge.
I'm not sure what you mean by "some of us, have dollfies that aren't liscensed dollfies, so they don't fit the original contest description."?? From what I understood any Volks Dollfie Dream doll was fine, weather it's a Volks anime based limited character, a Volks original character, or a blank Volks Dollfie Dream head and body that's been painted and put together by the owner. The only rule on which doll can enter was that it has to be a Volks Dollie Dream, not a Mini Dollfie Dream, not an Obitsu or other resin bjd.
Also, I don't think we really had a limitation of how many outfits our doll can wear, but we had to have 3 types of photos "underwear or bikini, default or casual dress, outdoor." Some people buy their dollfies 2nd hand naked, and those who put their dollfie dream together don't really have a default dress, so it's ok to wear any casual dress. Everyone took some liberties to make their post a bit original which is ok I guess, if not it might have been a little boring if everyone did exactly the same thing.
The only thing I noticed in some entries that maybe did not fit the rules was people who posted some photos in their entries with more than 1 of their Dollfie daughers in it, in the rules it said "one daughter per post".
Well, I was a little cooked by the sun, been working out in the garage just after I had made that post so it may have , which rereading it.. it came off a little odd. Let me try and clarify.
The scoop of the contest was three types of photos, is how I understood the rules. And if you had a doll based from an anime or game, the clothes that the doll came with where to be used. For those that have a custom dollfie, or a second hand dollfie etc.. etc.. Any outfit was fine.
My main idea in that posting was to point out this problem, some may not vote for the second hand/ custom dolls.. cause of the lack of said clothing. Or may rule against people who really were very literal about the rules.
Basically it comes down to I don't want to judge this ^_^
hehehe yeah ok i see what you mean now. Hope you weren't cook too "well done" by the sun. Yeah it would be quite hard to judge. People familiar with dollfies and people not familiar with dollfies would probably have different criterias to judge the entries. Maybe it requires establishing a point system like the olympics, having semi-finals and finals....!! hehe ^^ but yeah I think it's better to just keep in mind we are doing this for fun, the prizes are just an extra bonus.
Was pretty well done ^_^ The heat has been brutal lately. Sorry for the oddness of the first post. I knew what I wanted to say ^_^
And your exactly right, this was fun. It allowed some of us who normally don't have a lot of time for our daughters. To get out with them and enjoy them. So the prizes are a bonus.
I also is a good idea that Danny votes. Also could be ok, if another person/s who are not into dollfies choose the winner, because then the excuse about the character preference is not possible, and maybe can give a more objective opinion... If I had to choose, like others said, would be a problem, because all of them are lovely :))
I agree with Yakumo and Aquilla, however I think that no matter how it ends up this contest was a good experience for meeting everyone's cute girls. ^^
So many insghts.. This is hard... What's important is that my girls got their photo ops and had fun doing it.
Same here, did it mostly for kicks and a personal challenge (going out with my dolls, would attract a lot of interrogating if not worse looks...).
Looks aren't so bad.. its when the cops show up ^^; Thats when its bad.
I know i got a few stares and laughs by girls while I was on the school campus taking the the first couple of photos. I ended up going to a park for the second half during lunch when I knew not many would be around.
I was on my own front porch and people were slowing down in their cars.. Made me really wanna go back inside. I'm glad I was on my own property when I did my photos.
Try taking photos inside a popular Mall on a Sunday evening ^_^; It's Fun!!
Uhm.. Mmmm.. I may try that, when i find that gimp mask and ball gag to wear while I'm doing it. At least then they won't wonder about the dolls as much ^_^
Favourite choice eh? =/ Dunno how well that would go but oh well lol
I'd be more comfortable if Danny chooses, after all, it is his contest XD
....that and I have no idea how to "favourite" a post ^^;;
Awesome stuff Danny, I didn't imagine you'd be able to get so much stuff!
And shoes! I'm eyeing that black pair :D
Thanks a lot Danny ~!
orz... I just filled "dollfiesummer2009" in the tag
(forgot to add into it ><)
Looks like you prefer me to vote - will do then but please dont hate me after. Its all about having fun and I loved looking at your daughters ^o^
Doubt anyone will have anything to say, most of us did it for fun, and i'd rather have a 1 person choice than a perhaps biased multi-person vote. At least we'll know you personal tastes :3.
Agreed, I had lots of fun taking Arturia out, and so did the chinese tourists who watched me photographed her...:P
Tourists watched you? thats a bit freaky ^_^
Happened to me too :S and thanks to that my boyfriend said he wasn't comming with me again if I wanted to take outdoor photos...>_<
yea... it was a lil embarassing lol
XD
So did they like ask strange questions? Point fingers. Or mostly just point at you and say things in chinese that didn't sound very flattering? I'm way too curious about this I think.
Well, they talked amongst themselves, but the old ladies smiled a lot and seemed like they were either gigglig at how stupid I look, or giggling at how cute Arturia is ^^;
Ahh.. Well that would still be pretty embarassing. I just had people slow down in their cars.which was still fairly embarassing.
In my case, they wanted to take pictures at the same place, so I guess they were gossiping while I was finishing hehehe ^^
LOL, I hope that tourist enjoyed the free show!
lol, see, this miss dollfie event is even entertaining those who don't see the site XD
Honestly Danny, I don't think anyone is going to hold a grudge about a silly contest. We really all just had fun producing the photos. We got to see each others daughters, many of which we knew existed but, never saw before. So really was just a great experience. I for one got to see some real creativeness out there which pushes me to wanna do better as well.
A few DC members complained about a previous giveaway where I judged the contest and ranted on their blogs ^^;
Well, Okay.. so I was wrong. All I can say is.. I won't complain about your judgement call.. Cause I did it for the fun ^_^
But I will say this.. TO anyone who would hold a grudge.. or does hold a grudge after this contest (Hopefully that'll be absolutely no one!) Come on kids! Its just for fun!
Wasn't it you who told us that the personal opinion of others should not deter that which we love to do most ^^; Remember Bill Cosby's quote. I'll admit that I was one of those who were a tad displeased with that giveaway that you mentioned but I also do believe that that giveaway's winner was no less deserving; meh.. envy, it gets even the best of us.
I don't know about others, but people who ranted on their blogs on giveaway contests need to grow up and understand the world doesn't revolve around them. For me, I just put forth my best possible effort and so far have always benefited from doing your contest, whether it was the otakuroom giveaway, or this Miss Dollfie Summer contest. I have always obtained something I didn't have before, at least in my opinion that is.
All the lovely submissions so far.. >_<
I'm looking forward to the favoriting system regardless of whether this contest is judged by that or not. :D
Can't speak for anyone apart from myself, but I joined the competition in the spirit of sharing pictures of my girl :) So winning a little something would be a completely unexpected bonus, not unwelcome, just not expected :) All the best to everyone who entered and I'm sure Danny will pick some great girls!
For the next Dollfie comp though, I think voting might work better if a HTML poll was set up and you just cast your vote and move on? Or on another forum each entry was given a random number, and we cast votes by sending a PM to the mods with the number of the entry. Just a few things to think about :)
