MG 1/100 Sinanju WIP

Posted by Al-Tank [www]

Been around Chinatown in New York City few weeks ago and got this kit from a local store.
First time buying a kit offline was concerned about getting a knock off, but it turned out to be quite legit kit at a reasonable price.

Great kit, assembled it in about two days. All sanded and prepped for painting.

Still unsettled with color scheme.
Thinking about gloss black and gloss red for exterior panels.
What color to choose for skeleton and weapons? Gray, dark blue and gunmetal for the thrusters, not really certain.

Another project that I'm working on in parallel - PG 1/60 Skygrasper with tail section almost finished.

It's pretty easy to spot knock-offs in person. I haven't seen a gunpla knock-off that remotely looks like the real thing packaging wise. Price is reasonable is cause gunpla, unlike figures, they don't really stop producing them and they get them shipped by sea.

    Let me tell you this....

I go to Chinatown pretty darn often, most of the time to either get games for less (and early) or to buy gunpla. And if you stick to Elizabeth center and the area around it, you will NEVER find a knockoff. Despite the common census that says that Chinatown is full of bootlegs, it isn't quite true for Gundams. I haven't seen on there, at least not yet.

Now, if only the stores had websites so I could check their stock...sigh.

They never gonna have a inventory system. I know one of the store down there for over 20 years and all they do is just get about 2 shipment a year by sea.

Sadly, I've been trying for the longest time to find a knockoff kit down there.
I don't think they're ever gonna have it cause they never restock on anything. I hope some random store I walk by someday has immense stocks of them D:

Lol well, the stores I hit up seem to stock on every new kit. However they don't REstock so....if it runs out there, you won't see it again xD

At least there're multiple sources to get your gunpla, so its all good :)
