PlayArts Bayonetta

Posted by ryles [www]

Received my Bayonetta preorder 2 weeks ago,
unpacked and took some pics 1 week ago, and
posted today!

Whew! It sure takes a lot of effort. Hahaha :P
Too much work and worries!

Good thing I don't have any game consoles, otherwise I might add "too much
playing" to the list. That said, I haven't had the chance to play Bayonetta.
Although I love the gameplay from what I've seen from demos. Her hair in the
game is so lovely and cool. Too bad it isn't well replicated in the figure.

The figure partly satisfies, but also partly disappoints. The gun on the right
foot just keeps falling off. And as I mentioned, the hair looks really rough. Her
glasses also look a little too thick, but she does have a pretty face. ^^

It's also hard to make her stand properly. I wish the figure came with one of
those Figma stands (a bigger one of course). And somehow, I was expecting
those chains behind her to be real dangling chains. (^^'

Horrible just as I thought when they show their official pictures.

They took very dark pictures to trap people.

Square Enix is still far behind in terms of producing high quality figures, espeically Playarts line.

Not bad, actually better than I expected. I didn't order it because I thought it looked really bad, but your shots make it seem like a decent figure.

I have a few PlayArts, mostly for my favourite FF characters and the quality is okay. You can't compare them to ALTER or GSC, but they are cheap figures so it's understandable. The nice thing with PlayArts is you have a certain degree of possibility with them.

On a side note, you really should play Bayonetta. One of my favourite games, and this coming from a guy who doesn't like fighting games. The gameplay was quite addicting and the story was perfect. The game was overall well done, you should get started on it. :p

She would be my first PlayArts figure. I liked FF, but their figurines did not
appeal to me. I ordered Bayonetta online only on impulse since, as you said, she
was not expensive and seemed... uhm, "promising." ^^

How I would love to play the game! Consoles are too big an investment for me
though... :( I'm hoping they'll have some PC port of the game in the future. :P

I'm in a revolt against PlayArts cause I hate how every PlayArts figure seems unpolished for final production... but just for the sake of the character, I'm very interested in PlayArts Bayonetta. I hope there'll be a Figma Bayonetta soon, but I highly doubt it. XD

Well, good or bad quality, this figure will surely look good beside my PS3. Although... something seems wrong... This figure makes her look a bit fat or on the "mom" side. XD

Lol on the "mom side" :D
I think it's her hip proportions. She does look awkward when not posed.
But if posed properly, she does look good. ^^

Mom side indeed - she lost her hourglass proportion. XD I think she needs a tinee more volume to her hips, and a bit less on the waist... Maybe it's just the poses, but even on the promotional pictures, she still looks like she's on the "mom side." XD

Another thing I hate about PlayArts is how they aren't given the Matte Finish on the paintjob. I guess I'll have to modify mine a bit if I were going to buy her. Do you recommend her? Cause I'm in the edge of barraging into a shop just to get her. XD

Oh wow... she's retailing for roughly 12,000 Yen in a local shop. What a rip-off. I have to go hunt for a decently priced one. XD

            12,000 yen.. whoa there! O.O
I got her for around 3500+ yen only over at AmiAmi!

If you really like Bayonetta that much, and has time to play and
pose her, I think she's worth the 3500-something-yen.

Personally, I think I could've skipped her, if it wasn't for my
            impulsiveness that time. :P

Scratch that. That shop really was just a rip-off. XD

She's retailing for approximately 5000 Yen in most of the decent shops. That's the usual price for retail of PlayArts here in the Philippines. XD

I have to also note her back... something's off. I can't pose her well enough
to make her lower back look sexy. There's no continuous curve, and her buttocks
are a bit... uhm, lacking, somehow. :P

The detail's pretty decent and the paint's not too bad, but those joints just look horrible to me. I'm not really into joints on human characters at the best of times but I can deal with, say, Figma joints. PlayArts joints are well and truly an instant deal-breaker for me.

I'm still awaiting Kotobukiya's scale figure of Bayonetta.

I've never been a fan of the PlayArts figures, they always lacked a certain level of polish and refinement. Maybe it matches the PS3 version's level of detail? XD

I'm waiting on the Kotobukiya figure, if it ever materializes...

IMO the only good Play Arts are the FF7AC and Crisis Core ones. Although this Bayonetta looks a lot better than I thought.

But you know whats the best Play Arts? The Naked Snake/Big Boss one thats coming out. That one is totally sick :D

Her head looks a bit on the small side, and the joints are quite horrid, I'm clearly not impressed, but that just my personal opinion. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, whats important is you are happy with your action figure.
BTW, everyone, please do not diss "mom" as I'm sure you all have one.

Sorry for the "mom" word. I was merely refering to the stereotype of a lady with no figure or a lady who just gave birth... no inentions here to diss the term. Maybe I just used the wrong terminology.

Hmmm... in my opinion, FF PlayArts in general (the main line of PlayArts) are just about the same quality with this when featured in zoom photography... Maybe a bit more polished, but pretty much just the same.

Bayonetta is embroidered with the tiniest extravagant detail, and from a company such as EQxPlayArts which create FF characters - characters that don't exhibit much details in term of Character Concept, I don't think they could've done better. The only well-produced product of EQxPlayArts is the Shiva Bike... and damn, it sells for 24,000 Yen! XD
