"Fine" Dining in Los Angeles

So me and a few other people are heading to Los Angeles. It's definitely not our territory. I have some ideas, but would like to see more suggestions, even if I am only staying there less than a week ^^;
I'm hoping for an average kind of dining, not too expensive. I don't need to be dining in a 5-star French restaurant, thank you very much. So anywhere between the Los Angeles Convention Centre (1201 South Figueroa Street) to Downtown Marriott (where I'll be staying at 333 South Figueroa Street). Any suggestions please place in the comments. Thanks! ^_^
Oh and also, how's the traffic in L.A. to the airport around this time of the year? ^^;

*shrugs* I got a big comment that you may be interested in lol. Check in the comment section below?

Aye, I saw some of that. A bit far for some, but will consider some of that if I have to.

Thanks! Looks like I'm gonna have to get around to Little Tokyo either way, lol.
. . . go down First Street to Little Tokyo is THA PLACE for all kinds of GOOD eats . . . not that price-y either . . . Chinatown is over north of you a bit . . . *O enjoy your time in L.A.
better yet go down Third Street to San Pedro St.and you will be there !!!
Thanks! I have no access to a car, so gonna have to walk it or use the public transportation if I know where I'm going XD
see if the hotel has shuttle service to Little Tokyo and the Convention Center :D
if u pre registered a 4day pass then u have complimentary shuttle services
Yeah, I think I'll take advantage of that shuttle service, lol. Thanks!
Here are a few restaurants in Chinatown that I like:
Golden Dragon Seafood Restaurant
960 N Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90012
(Pretty good dim sum at a good price. I like the tea)
PHO 87
1019 North Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90012-1405
(Vietnamese beef noodle soup. I recommend the egg rolls)
Thanks! Will look into those ones :D
Since you don't have a car, be careful. The area is not very safe at night.
never go out at night without a car....EVER!!!! especially in skid row which is Hope St. and a couple blocks south too
Hahaha, yeah I didn't feel like walking at night either ^^;
Well have fun there :)
There is a MAID CAFE in LA! I read about it a while ago... So here it is. It is sorta far away, but I thought you might be interested. I want to go TT_TT
Here it is http://www.royal-t.org/ Have fun in LA!
I'm almost embarrassed to go in there, lol. Dunno if I'll have the time. Maybe next time then. Thanks for the link!
Thing is, you are going to be right in the middle of LA Live.
Here's what's right at your doorstep:

That's more than enough to keep you well fed while here. I *do* suggest a trip to Little Tokyo. Take the Blue Line subway from Pico/Chick Hearn Station to the terminus. Then pick up the Red Line and take that in to Union Station. Then grab the Gold Line which is headed to Atlantic Station and get off at the first exit: Little Tokyo/Arts District. This is a very safe way to travel.
I am organizing an end-of-con meet...it's sort of a doll meet but you're welcome even if you don't have a doll. It will be Sunday July 4th at 6pm at Oiwake Restaurant in the Japanese Village Plaza. http://www.oiwake.com/ . Not fancy Japanese food but sturdy and goes well with beverages and Karaoke.
Thanks for the link! I'm gonna copy+paste your directions for Little Tokyo... But I won't make it for the end-of-con meet since my plane leaves at 7:30 PM on Sunday ^^;
Don't worry about food there's so much around the area you only gotta walk a bit outside of the convention center and pick whatever is on the way.
Yeah, I thought there would be lots, but I thought I'd ask if there's any particular one ;)
mcdonald >_>
Go to Koshiji if you want a nice yakitori place. I enjoyed the place. I don't think I did spend a lot there.
You will need to take a bus to go to Filipino Town. You can walk over there, but it's not fun. Trust me. I walked over to the section, but I took a bus back to the hotel, the Sheraton, I stayed at last year.
Like what everyone said, don't walk around at night. Unfortunately, I have friends telling me that they do not like being in downtown L.A. at all. Personally, if I'm not living up north, this would be a key spot for me to live at because of the many access points I have. Still, don't walk around at night. When the Lakers won their 17th title less than two weeks ago, the incident of the burning car occurred just a block from the hotel. That tells you how rowdy L.A. can get.
Laker fans SUCK !!
Now now. There are some classy fans. Don't know what happened to those fans that dealt with the car though.
hey, anyway just go to Little Tokyo down by the tower - there is so many food places you will need a crane to take you back to the hotel . . . :D
