Exia Rebuilt
So I learned a few things about painting and myself
- Always wash your hands
- Don't handle them too soon
- Dirt/paints from fingers will stick if you handle different colored pieces
- Don't topcoat/seal clear plastic parts
- Remember to mask certain joints or else they get too tight.
- Colors may be darker than they appear (the red, mainly)
- Clear paints on metallic colors look pretty decent.
- decide how to paint it BEFORE you start
This is my Red Exia, with broken parts swapped/replaced and a new color scheme given. Was thinking of giving it the same red as before, but decided now was a time to try out a variety of things. The GN Sword I blades aren't painted, since I didn't want to go get more spray paint and didn't want to hand-paint bigger pieces/pieces that scrape against other parts. Maybe next time.
So now...I'll call it Lord Rexia Type-G1/G2 (Different V-fins)

Did like how the green turned out

Armament

Might paint the blades/guns later

Choice of color scheme aside, the paint is really thick. You didn't sand the model before painting it again right?
Yeah, didn't sand. I pretty much replaced the painted pieces with leftovers from the Astraea Type F - and I did mess up a bit with the red and blue paints. The only one I managed to paint thinly was the metallic.
Hand painted or sprayed?
The red, gold and blue were spray painted, the grays hand painted.
Ah, in that case, the paint is really thick because you sprayed it way too close or you did too many layers.
Aim for or 3 layers only. And distant yourself from the piece and get closer until you feel that the amount of paint that falls onto the piece is just right.
Color scheme reminded me of Vincent KMF from Code Geass
Oh my, it's Iron Man! Iron Exia! XD
reminds me of the colour scheme i painted for my 1/100 exia
cool colour shcheme
love the shield
Nice color scheme, but you might want to think of using some thinner with your paint next time. Its really thick ! I learned that the hard way too. My paint was too thick (luckily it was on a First Grade model) and the it smudged, chipped, and melted after 3 days of letting dry.
oh boy. either youre using crappy paint or you didnt stir your paints enough
Probably crappy paints. They were spray cans from Home Depot - and the colors didn't look like I thought they would. Turned out I got a bronze instead of gold too, besides the other colors turning out too dark. I also have leftover acrylics from college.
