Muv Luv (replies may spoil)

Has anyone played this game?
I was introduced to this game from AX today.
If those of you who went to AX2010 and as soon as you enter the exibition hall, there was a 'Muv-Luv' booth.
There were mechas displayed around the TV and it was playing the comercial all day long.
There were also artisits who will draw ur fav Muv Luv character when you pay.
Anyways, one of the character looked firmiliar and 'BAM!' Meiya who was launched as a figma!!!! XD
I also heard this game is a eroge!!! (TRUE?)
PS: To those who played this game, I read the wiki that Alternative has a tragic ending. (Who dies in the game? Can you pick out the characters above pic?)
[vague spoilers!] i haven't played through it yet, but i do know alternative has a particularly gory death scene.

Muv-Luv needs more love. :D Right now age and Volks are in partnership going through Total Eclipse, a side-story for Alternative that features Tactical Surface Fighter (what MV calls their giant robots) designs that didn't make it into the game; it's a real treat, since a fair number of Alternative TSF models are based off real-world fighter jets, and the story gives further elaboration on the Alternative-verse.
Alternative features no "love" scenes from what I can recall; the scenes are probably from Unlimited, Altenative's prequel, where the story focuses alot more on the relationship between the male lead and his potential harem rather than the Human-BETA war.
As for the ending of Alternative (warning SPOILERS AHEAD)...
Except possibly for the white-haired girl in the background at the top left corner, most of the characters in the picture above will die nearing the end of the story, when the UN army attack's the BETA's main Hive on EArth. I haven't played the game myself, but I've seen death scenes for Meiya and one other girl, and Sumika (red-head, background top right) is already dead at the start. Meiya dies last. If I'm not wrong, ALternative features this single ending only.
Not sure if it was the original or the Alternative, but I've heard my friend say it's got some pretty gruesome "bad endings" and some rather hard core... uh... "love" scenes.
so as I read the wiki there are alternative worlds where some of the character dont exist in the other world and some characters are opposite gender.

They're all alternate universes of each other, each with slight differences. MV is your normal eroge, MV Unlimited is the normal MV but with the backstory and endings altered, and MV Alternative, Chronicles and Total Eclipse all take place on the same Earth. Then there's Altered Fable and the Maniax fandisks that hve nothing to do with Alternative...
The male lead for all three is the same man jumping from alternate universe to alternate universe; his other-universe selves are hinted at to be already dead.
