B★RS Silhouettes

Posted by meronpan [www]

Thought I'd share some silhouette shots from my recent brs review. Wasn't quite able to execute it the way I wanted so it's not the pure black on white I wanted -_- Instead took a monochrome version over the color version and erased away the flame part to give the pic a little color. ah well.

For fun some regularly lit pics included as well~

      yeah, in this case where there's no background details to make the pic more intriguing i think you're right, it's probably best i had gray scale in there.

      but if nothing else, it was annoying that i wasn't able to achieve what i set out to do in the first place ^^;

      shouldn't be too hard, just make sure your subject is in front of a really bright light source, then adjust your exposure for the bright light source instead of your subject. viola, silhouette! ^^

      well, 'course i botched my attempt so i guess maybe it's not necessarily that simple. but in theory it should be! ^^;

    Your lighting is perfection. I love it.
    May I ask, what is your setup?

      you give me too much credit ^^; doumo ^^

      For white backgrounds I use a light box which you can see here: http://meronpan.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/altershinsonicfate42.jpg

      to light it up, you can see my softbox in the photo on the left, also have another light + umbrella on the right. still experimenting with the proper placement of my light sources, and ideally i'd have more (really hard to light up that whole box evenly with just 2 lights ^^;)

      for stuff on black backgrounds i just use some fabric as a backdrop and position lights as necessary. in this pic i have two umbrellas though recently i use my softbox + umbrella further away for fill.

      and wholy crap, noticed i got an e-mail notification for your comment! finally! my figure.fm/dc activity definitely dropped off after it became too much of a chore to keep track of threads i had posted to. perhaps i'll be a bit more active now ^^

      anyhow, hope that helps!
