AX 2010 summary

So I got back home from AX 2010 early this morning. I am sorting through my pictures, working on writing and editing my blog posts and stuff. But being the super excited person that I am, I really just want to throw something here right away to share with everyone so I am not so late to the party !! [ I forgot my mouse at home and didn't care to write blog stuff off my phone. I have a first gen G1 droid. It's quite slow =( ]

Anyways Here is my quick wrap up. THE MOST FREAKING AMAZING TIME OF MY LIFE! I wish I would have known AX was this fun, or I may have made more of an attempt to come before. Not saying I didn't before, I just didn't go out of my way to make it happen, like I did this year. This years motivation for making it happen was Asakwa Yuu and May'n. I was "oooo I might go to ax if Asakawa Yuu will be there" and then May'n was announced. The deal was sealed.

So first off, let me mention somethings that bugged me about the con. Orgnization was bad. Very bad. Volunteers were very uninformed. I was supposed to walk in and go right up to the ticketing booth to pick up my badge. This did not happen as Volunteers told me I was supposed to wait in the super long prereg line to get inside when I asked about premier fan badge pick up. I sprained my left foot during this long line wait. So you might be able to see why I am so upset about having to wait in line for 3 hours when I did not need to. Had I not injured myself during the long wait, I probably wouldn't have cared at all about the misinformation. I kind of enjoyed the lines. It was great talking to everyone in the lines. I talked to sooooooo very very many people in sooo many different lines. It was great mingling with everyone and checking out the surrounding cosplays (which I understand were lacking in comparison to previous years). There was also some other issues with my badge promises too, but I won't get into that here. I will rant more than enough about it on my blog when I have my posts up =p

Now also allow me to say, that I in know way mean anything bad on the staff. I came down here with 2 guys working AV for LP2 and an AV assistant manager. Staff members busted their butts trying to pull things through. So I commend my friends and their co-staff members for their efforts. And a special shout out to the poor staffers who were waiting in the Megumi Nakajima and May'n line with me on saturday, only to be dismissed from the line when the exhibit hall closed at 6pm. Kind of sucks that even staff members don't get to cut the line. Especially since they have to work at least 8 hours a day at the con. What a waste of their very little free time =(

So what were the highlights for me ? Obviously, Asakawa Yuu, May'n and Danny Choo. I of course was expecting Yoko Kano during the performance, so while it wasn't a surprise, it was definitely an honor !! And The Gurren Lagann movie screenings and cosplay contest with Konishi was absolutely intense ! I also had much much love for the Bandai booth. Those guys were awesome !! I wish I had known in advance about the Noblesse Oblige funimation scavenger hunt thing though. Hell, When I was out in the exhibit hall preopening, they had all the cards out on the free swag table. I shoulda took them all then. But I didn't know what they were at the time. Oh well. But I liked the idea of the little game of tracking down the Noblesse Oblige shirt people and getting different colored cards from them to trade in for prizes at funi booth. Did anyone get the shirt ? What does it look like ? Also I loved the mell show, almost as much as I loved seeing her in that black dress she wore in the first "leg" of the show. (cwutididthar? her legs are hawt!)

Anyways, this was my first anime expo. Definitely going next year. And now that I have seen how things go down, I think I will be better prepared for it, and thus make it a much better expo for me next year. Even though this year was so very awesome !!!!

Be sure to check my blog later tomorrow (or this week > < ) For my full detailed write up and pictures of all that I did and saw !! Though my pictures are pretty amateur. I suck at taking pictures almost as much as I suck at being in pictures.

Speaking of being in pictures, that is a picture of a rather un-photogenic me with Danny in the exhibit hall just before it opened. Manage to catch him as I was on my way to line up for the May'n Panel on day 1. Great meeting you danny! Next time we have to get one where I don't look like my usual dork self =p (or with that pudgy belly. Someday I will start doing my sit ups again)

LoL you commented before I did. Yeah, I'll try to come again next year. It was sorta weird at the time when I actually was looking at this guy's badge and noticed your name on it ahaha. So I had to say hi ^^

I have to agree with some of the disorganization that was happening there... Some of the staff even asked what line we are in even though they work there... WHAT?! You work here and don't know? How sad... Anyway, I suppose this is what I've heard from Yuuichikun.

Anyway it was nice meeting you, albeit a bit brief, lol. It was my first time at AX too ^_^ Perhaps I'll come again next year :)

    Was great meeting you!
Do post your comments about the con on DC when I write up asking for it. I think AX would love to hear that feedback.

you have to admit for the Nakajima+May'n autograph line, they should have anticipated a big gathering... I mean, seriously, they closed the first Nakajima signing line before the whole thing started (45 min before). And then to be split up like what they did, made my 5+ hour wait, with no food, completely useless. I mean, yea, I feel for you guys who didn't get their signiture. Sorta wish they didn't do it at the Dealers room, a place that needs to close down... Of course, if May'N and Nakajima couldn't handle the workload, and wanted to stop, that's fine too (especially since Nakajima did a bit of overtime in the first session -really nice of her to do that), but disorganization much on the AX staff. At least it wasn't like the horror stories I hear of Yui Horie....

      > if May'N and Nakajima couldn't handle the workload, and wanted to stop, that's fine too
In her official blog, May'n said, "Looked like there were so many people that I wasn't able to meet them all. (´;ω;`) I'm really sorry (I feel really bad). There will be another session tomorrow, so, my friends, who I couldn't meet today, I hope to meet you all tomorrow. I'm sorry again (´;ω;`) and thank you all [for your support]. . . . But this is in Japanese. I hope [some of] you are reading." (my translation). Really nice person, isn't she? Well, my translation isn't good enough to convey her nuances, but it's clear that she feels really bad not having been able to meet you all. Reading her blog everyday, I can confirm how keen she is to meet ALL fans, if possible.

I think what annoyed people was that May'n and Nakajima said that they would stay late and try to get everyone in line an autograph and everyone was so excited and there was so much cheering. After this announcement was made by their people, the Exhibit Hall Floor Manager dude in the black suit was "NO! Everyone is out at 6". So it was the whole being brought up, just to be brought down. I missed most of the LA CGM just so I could go get their autographs, so I was very sad to see my CGM sacrifice was in vain. Although I did get to talk to some pretty cool peeps in line. Like I said, shout out to the staffers I was in line with.

Yea, I read her blog as well (and you pretty much nailed the translation imo). SO I am guessing that on Friday, after I left, it closed down due to the dealer's room closure. That really REALLY sucks... Especially those in the back of the line who have waited as long as I have...

        soulfringe>
I think if it weren't for the stupid rule on the dealer's room, those two would have continued it... AX really needs to reconsider where they do there autographs (I mean, last year, it was some mini room at the top of the dealer's room). Then again, the autographs need to be dealt with better imo all together...

on a completely unrelated note, my comments on both May'N's blog and Nakajima's blog made it in~
          yay~

I saw you at the meetup!
    I was the Mikuru cosplayer.
I didn't take many pics since my camera kept freezing up and started working the next day at the San Diego zoo.>_>
Danny was really cool and I was surprised how chill Jacob was.
