Ms. Geek's eye view of AX 2010: updated
Yes, it's me. AX is the big damn con here in Los Angeles. Some say there were as much as 100,000 people at con this year, which means AX is now rivalling San Diego Comic-Con International for absolute hugeness. Some others suggest the size of the con was more like 50,000 attendees. Rather than filling up this with all my photos, I will put up just a few and send you to Flickr to look at the rest.

I only got to one of Danny Choo's events, but it was a good one: CGM Night Los Angeles. Here's Danny with a couple of people owned by their dolls...

These are officially the most famous Dollfie Dreams at this point: Wolfenheinrich's Kiriha and Danny Choo's Saber.

What a gorgeous girl...everyone wants Danny's Dollfie Dream Saber girl. I still love Yumiko-tan and consider her the best Dollfie Dream on the planet, but she's my girl, she pwnz me, and so I'm biased.

The Doll Table at CGM Night Los Angeles. I thought this was in the set originally but apparently not. Now it is.

Hetalia was HUGE at AX 2010. It's coming out on DVD in September and it's a definite GET. Don't let the rating fool you: Hetalia is just plain funny and the ribaldry is kept to a minimum. I think the "Mature Audiences" crap is just because the flirtations are mostly boy-boy rather than boy-girl. These are imaginary representatives of the nations of the world, for crying out loud! They aren't REAL human characters. (headdesk)

This is the view out the fire escape of the hotel I stayed at downtown. You can see the 2nd Street tunnel, made famous in Blade Runner, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I love LA!!!

Great pics. Which hotel did you stay at ?
The lovely little Kawada Hotel on 2nd and Hill. It's older and the rooms are small but it's clean and I love the European ambience of the place. However, if I do this next time I'll probably stay in LT somewhere, with the edge to the Miyako which had its cafe open on the morning of the 4th of July. I was able to get grub and both my caffeine and bandwidth fixes there, Kami be praised. No thanks to the LT Starbucks. :P
Not a bad view. View from my hotel room (city center) was looking straight at ESPNZONE and Lawrys. Good view of what was going on at Club Nokia though I guess. I didn't actually care much for my hotel...
I am thinking next year (for my 2nd anime expo!) I will stay at the JW Marriott, and hopefully with some fellow DC comrades and/or Friends, rather than some completely random folk. Seems like a nice place to stay with lots of nice amenities, and the block hotel rates don't seem to be too outrageous.
Was great meeting you! Although I'm sorry we didnt get the chance to speak more - will send you mail.
It was an honor meeting you, Danny. It is still a goal of mine to somehow parlay my geekiness into some sort of living. You've done it! It's possible! You're awesome.
