First Dollfie Arrival!

Posted by Poofiemus [www]

After over a year of research, oggling, saving, pining, and searching, I finally brought my first girl home! This adoption came courtesy of a Den of Angels user, Gelfling9UK, who not only put her up for a surprisingly reasonable fee, but also with a ton of goodies. I think I may name her Agatha, after the mad scientist protagonist of the webcomic Girl Genius, though I'm not certain as of yet.

One of her two outfits and one of her three wigs. This wig reminds me very much of Disney's Ariel, actually.

Here she is with what I think is probably going to be her usual wig. There's a third wig, a blue one, but the photos turned out terrible.

Hm, I get this feeling that what's inside is fragile. Love how Gelfling9UK took no chances!

An example of a bubble wrap mummy. Well, more like a bubble wrap vault, really, with all the tape involved!

And lastly, the traditional and obligatory pet-in-a-box shot.

      Thanks very much, Danny. If it weren't for your posts, I'd probably still think these girls only came in painted-eye format. ^^;

        Another GG fan? YAY! *virtual hugs*

        Yeah, I have a lot of plans for her. I'll probably make her some temporary glasses out of wire to hold her over, and I have some custom green eyes in progress. Need to learn how to sew, though. . . could get interesting.

          Thanks! *hugs back* I've been a fan of Mr. Foglio's work since the early '80's when he penned the artwork for Robert Asprins "Mythadventure" graphic novel. I was very pleased to see he had his own online novel ( GG, GG101 ) when I started reading online comics back in 93-94... I love how it's been progressing and can't wait for each episode... Looks like you have quite a challenge ahead, as Agatha is quite a complicated character! Best of Luck!!

      Heh, yeah. Not only was the outside marked multiple times, there was a layer of bubble wrap covering the inner box, and the most insane, super-thick and extra-taped roll of bubble wrap covering Agatha herself. XD Usually a doll wrapped in bubble wrap is affectionately called a "bubble wrap mummy", but this was more of a vault. XD And thanks for the belated congrats!

      Yeah, faceups can make a huge difference. It's even more pronounced on DDs than on resins, because their brows are always painted on rather than sculpted in.
