Caped Drossel - Debut!
Yo! Litokid here. I had grand plans for my first figure debut. You know - pretty watermarked logo, an actual blog to link to, awesome script, cast of a thousand, the works. But Inspiration is a very, very harsh mistress. She cares not about the plans of mere mortals. She doesn't care if I have dozens of other things lined up to do and urgent deadlines to meet.
She demands action at her every whim, and she calls herself Drossel.
"Hey. Hey! Get down here. It's tiring to shout up at you the whole time."
"That's better. Come."

Geez...
"Stop whining. You were the one who found this cape and said it suited me."
You're the one who tore it off of Testarossa! Poor Fate's crying over there right now!
"Details. Are you going to take pictures or what?"

"...I look stupid. Not until I strike a pose, Lidokun."
Ah, sorry. Incidentally, my name is--
"Something like this."

"Or this, perhaps? Maybe this too."

Try flurling the cape again. I liked that last shot.

Heehee, it's so dramatic...reminds me of a comic book superhero.
"Superhero?"
They're usually these buff men who try to look macho.
"Like this?"

YES. That's exactly what I meant! Again! Stare into the sunset!
"...Wasn't that an Eastern? With those--boycows? And your 'sunset' is black."

'Western', actually. And 'cowboys'.
"...Sounds stupid anyway."

Where'd you get that pose?
"A movie. None of your concern, Rito."

When'd you watch a movie? You don't even have a--
"None of your concern, I said."

...
"..."

...It was you, wasn't it. I was wondering what happened to my hard drive.
"..."
The folders were all over the place. I spent hours renaming everything back to the way it should be.
"Okay, OKAY! Fine, it was me!"

...What are you doing?
"I thought I fixed everything! I can't believe it. I, Drossel von Flugel, found out by a mere, a mere..."
In retrospect, it was actually kind of obvious. I mean, all my Star Wars movies were in a folder labelled "HEALTH CA"--GACK!

"Y--you! Die! I can no longer co-exist with you!"
W-wai-OW. Just calm--OOMPTH. Okay, TIME OU---

...C'mon, Drossel--Sorry, Ojou. Just change, do that one last bit and we're done, 'kay?
"I said I wasn't talking to you."
Well, I was wrong. Please?
"...Oh, Fine."

"How's this?"
Looks wonderful, Ojou-sama.

If you could...?

...Thank you.

One last one.

And that's it. Whew...
"It's dark. I'm going to sleep."
Ah, 'kay. Thank you for your hard work, Ojou-sama.
*cough* ^^;
I'm a big fan of natural lighting. Shot all this in my room during Golden Hour - sunset, which is why you can see the pictures getting progressively darker. xP
I was reorganizing my display case when I came across figma Fate and Nanoha - thought Fate's white cape and Nanoha's white barrier jacket would look good on Drossel, so I tried it out. It did look good, but with both on movement was hindered, and even Drossel couldn't stand at all - too much weight on the back. So I took Nanoha's barrier jacket off, quickly laid out a black piece of fabric from my closet, and got as many shots as I could until the sun went down.

This is my first time doing figure photography though - let me know how I did, and if I typed too much meaningless ramble. :P
I don't think I did enough poses, and I'll have to have more than a plain black background in the future. Oh, and this was all on a point-and-shoot. ^^; I do have an SLR, but it's rather old and upon comparison actually put out photos of lower quality than my Lumix TZ3.

looks AWESOME!! ^0^
Nice cape ^^
Nice poses with drossel! It's tempting me to bust out my drossel out of her box. :D
Gratz on your first photoshoot ^^
I can actually see the pictures slowly going dark there lol. Some of the darkness actually does make it look dramatic :D Nice background setup btw... I never really have any good setup for backgrounds ^^;
I actually have a white piece of fabric lying around, too - they used to be curtains for a school play that I appropriated once it was over. ^^; The rest of the "setup" is really just pinning it into place in any way I could, so it's actually ridiculously simple.
Very nice pics! Luv the cape and the captions were amusing.
Uh oh. I forsee more photoshoots coming...
Being a fellow Canuck, I would expected you to ask me if I wanted a Drossel from HK. But nooooooo. =P
You're right - I apologize. It would've been a simple matter to drop it out of the plane as we were flying above you. Will note for future reference.
Do you think you could leave some sort of visual beacon for me to see should the situation repeat itself?
No need. I expect personal delivery by you.
>_< no lighting?
^^ Well...natural lighting tends to set stuff up beautifully, and I'm too poor. If I were to invest, it'd be in an SLR with manual focus and not studio lighting.
But to be honest, when it comes to film and photography, lighting is the part I hate the most. I can do it reasonably well, but I don't have the patience for it. ^^;
cape is very fitting! now I need to find a black cape that suits Karas XD
lols I like the Drossol on the seat, lol just laxin it out
Ahaha, that's how I had her on display before, actually - couldn't resist a shot before I put the cape on her. ^^ Very glad I decided to grab that 1/12 armchair in Hong Kong.
Wow, you have a better idea in making the figure studio! XD
And I agree, natural lightning is the best! ^^
great work!
A simple and useful mini studio.
Now you need to put some light in her eyes just like Kodomut :D
I don't have the nerve to do it. ^^; Figma Nanoha suffered an injury during this very same display case redecoration project, and I don't know what I'd do if poor Drossel was injured.
Nice! That cape really does suit her well. I'd love to see some outdoor shots of her with the cape on.
Will consider that! Live near a lake, so...hmm. Wasn't planning to shoot Drossel again for some time though...
cool but no lights...
Sweet idea, she looks good in it^^ I was wondering when somebody was gonna put a cape on her^^
So awesome. The cape, the posing... Amazing job ^^
I liked your dialog you had between you and drossel
The photos were really good considering you only used natural light.
Awesome man, great use of natural lighting.
Loved the comments too, particularly the Star Wars bit, I just wish I knew more about the character ^^; Might put some of this in better perspective.
Don't worry, you've done a great job, poses and story alike. This is so awesome. We'll expect more great stuff from you. ^^
Like everyone is saying i really love that cape myself too. Awesome Dude
