I did (eventually) find some tech-layouts, but they were of individual Valkyrie parts.

The part I liked least about Macross Frontier are its valkyries. The VF-25 (my opinion) looks awful. I'll take the Plus/7 era of valks any day.

As for best valk of all times, I still like the VF-1 the best followed closely by the YF/VF-19. I'm a big fan of gerwalk it's what differentiates say Macross (yea yea Mospeada too lol) from other mecha franchises.

Well it does LOOK technically inferior to the YF-19 and YF-22, I can't refute that LOL.

Truth be told, before Frontier aired I did sorta expect them to base the design off the F-35 at first.

Kawamori was apparently a bit tired of passive "stealth" designs (or is it active, lol, no clue, but you get the idea, F-22, F-35, etc) so he set out to create a more "classic" looking jet, and hence we got the VF-25.

Would have preferred something that looked and transformed more like the VF-1 if his objective was to go retro.

The use of color and shadow is impressive. The perspective is appalling.

Macross, the Holy Grail of transforming mecha (of the jet-to-man variety, at least).

The YF-91 and YF-21 in particular are the Valkyries that left the biggest impression on my mind, thanks to the stunning fight scenes in M. Plus as well... And I've always found the YF-19 a great representation of a viable Su-47. :P

hey, what book did you get the factoid about the EX Gears, and was wondering if it had info regarding all the VF-25 variation and mechanics, along with system designs

Best guess I got is it's something called Macross Chronicle. It was oddly really tough to find any tech-layouts as most search results I got for anything Macross were character cels.

My Favorite Valks is VF-0S, sure it look awkward as predecessor of VF-1 series since it rather fit as its successor. Temjin Hidetaka did really impressive job on making the illustration of the valkyries.

    Itano Circus FTW!
