Desert Flower

Posted by Poofiemus [www]

I decided to take Agatha out for a little photoshoot late this afternoon, since her box opening was plagued by low light and an unfamiliar camera. With the nice evening sun, my own camera in tow, and my grandparents' immaculate backyard as a scenic backdrop, I was able to get some decent shots.

I have to say, photographing Agatha is fun! Granted, I don't have a stand for her yet, and I haven't worked up the guts to dislocate her elbow to activate the 'secret' joint, but all said I think I enjoyed taking pictures of her far more than I ever did my Figmas. She just has so much more presence!

My mom actually did Agatha's hair for these first few shots. I'd say she's as taken with Agatha as I am!

Agatha ponders the local desert climate, very different from her previous home in Europe.

What? This isn't a camera, I'm not doing anything!

Who's this lounging in the palo verde tree with the blue hair?

. . .Agatha! What happened to your hair? Don't tell me you took fashion advice from a Jägermonster.

Ah, that's more the right hair color! I need to mess with her hairstyle a little more though; have to figure out how to better hide the wefts.

Clouds were moving in at this point for a change and acted as a lovely natural diffuser.

It'd be a lovely shot if it weren't for that potting soil. ^^;

I am a highly visually oriented person, I need to see a visual image to help me remember those special moments. Taking photos of my DDs enable me to "create" these special moments with the characters I adore most that would otherwise be impossible with fixed pose figure/figma/plushies. The amount of depth and realism that can be achieved with DD photography is on a entirely different dimension all together.

Yeah, now I know what you mean! The detail in them just gives them so much more life, and their size makes it much more natural to put them in a human's environment than for Figmas. And crazily enough, my camera's face detection sometimes picks up on Agatha, which it never did for my Figmas. Even my camera likes her! =P

As a former landscaper on a golf course, I have to agree that your grandparents backyard landscaping is excellent. :^) But your daughter makes it even nicer. That's a great outfit on her and she makes it look good. Thanks for sharing!

Oooh, a golf course? I love to golf, even though I suck at it. Landscaping one must be as, if not more, challenging than the game itself!

Thank you very much for your compliments! She's just too cute not to share.

Yep, 2 private courses right on the ocean. We had sand dunes everywhere so keeping plants alive was always fun. ^_^ It was a challenging job at times but so far, it's still the best and most fun I've had at a job. I do miss it sometimes. And I agree that your girl is too cute to not share pics of! Keep it up!

Both wigs look good on her I think.

I admit I'm biased towards the blond wig because it makes her look more like the character I named her after. ^^; As for the blue one, I think it'll look better if I give the bangs a trim, because as it is it totally covers her eyebrows and almost covers her eyes.

Unfortunately it's actually too big--the wefts end up showing in the back because of how much the wig cap folds. Plus it sheds more than the blond Leekeworld wig does. Between those factors and the fact that it's really not Agatha's style (especially once she got her current faceup), the blue wig doesn't get out much.

XD poor little wig - all alone. Maybe you can keep it as a reserve in case you ever get a new daughter XD

Actually, that's kind of something I'm considering, though unless the next girl's head is *huge* I'll probably have to find some ways to take tucks in the cap to fix the exposed wefts issue.
