Japan Day 3 and 4

Posted by nendoxnerd [www]

Day 3
Today started a little later than day 2. I went to Kyoto Station and I think I took a local express line to Nara. I was planning on visiting Nara Park, Toudai-ji, Koufuku-ji, and Isuien Garden. I managed to make it to three of the four and sadly, I missed the garden. Probably because I was too busy stalking the other students that were there on their school trip. (I couldn't help it! At least I'm a student myself so it doesn't make me feel that bad. Yes, I am a coward.)

A lot of pictures this time!

Wonderful pics on your blog dude. I was just visiting Osaka in the last week, and popped by on a guided tour to Kyoto/Nara. Definately wish I stayed longer, although I'm pretty sure my feet would not agree with me(I walked about 8 hours a day for the first 3 days before blisters took me down to about 1/4 pace...)

You've got some neat angles/shots from Nijou/Kinkaku-ji. May I ask what your camera set up is?(it looks like you've got pretty good low noise/high ISO performance on it...)

I just use my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170. Sorry but I have no idea what you're talking about with the noise and ISO stuff! XD Otherwise, my dad has a good and fancy Nikon camera (I only used some of his pictures for the Day 5 post though).

Thank you too! I think its just that I got lucky and happened to get good lighting for most of the places I went to.

I'm gonna visit the castle in August. How was that?
There is a castle which was built in Sengoku period on the way to my high school, but it isn't so big nor beautiful....

Himeji is still probably going to be under renovation in August. If you are going to visit a castle, you might want to visit Osaka Castle. The inside is actually a museum.

Himeji is beautiful but if you plan on going before 2014, they're not going to let you into the main keep since it's going to be under restoration.

If you visit in August, and can make it through the crowds, Nara would be awesome. I think the kasuga shrine is lighting up the lanterns on the 15th(twice a year thing)

        >and can make it through the crowds
The 1300th anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital might make it so difficult....But I like Nara(I went there when I was a middle school student as a school trip ), and have never been to that shrine,so I'll check it. Thanks for the info.

Thank you! Japan was awesome. The weather was nice for the most part in Tokyo. It seemed that the rainy season had passed from Tokyo to Kyoto during the time I was there.
