Miku VN02 size comparison

Posted by Vinn

I promised a few shots with some figures to show how small (or how big) the figure look. If your wondering, Naru is listed as 1/6th scale and Mai is 1/10th scale but then scaling is really subjective when it comes to figures.

Is it just me or is she leaning slightly to the left in the last picture.... The weight distribution on this figure really makes me worry about leaning.

The 1/8 scale makes sense, she's roughly the same size as BRS. VN02 Miku is based on realistic proportions. She doesn't have a giant anime head, which gives her illusion of being smaller. I have her next to MF Miku and BRS (cannon version) and she scales perfectly. Out of all the figure companies, GCC and MF are the most accurate.
As for the leaning, my copy came in warm so I could adjust the base so she balances up. I also adjusted her arms. A little risky considering how much she cost, but the off-center issue is noticeable

Ya, I have a piece of cardboard titling her a bit to the right to try to correct the off centerness. I will leave it there for a couple of weeks and hopefully the PVC will stabilize.

You can try leaving Miku as she is and check regularly for signs of leaning. Some figures may give the appearance that their centre of gravity is tipping towards the sides or front, but don't actually end up leaning.

I have Alter Saika S. Falnese (from the Alicesoft game Pastel Chime Continue). If you look at the figure (http://myfigurecollection.net/figure/324_saika_s_falnese ), you wouldn't imagine her leaning. Yet, she started to lean to the left just a few months after I displayed her. Even after I realigned the leaning, she would go right back leaning to the left in a few weeks. So I ended up putting a few coins under the left side of the base until the left-leaning figure's weight is rebalanced and she looks upright.

I have her too and don't remind me lol. She has lean to the left AND right during her lifetime on display. Every time I move her I'm extra careful just cause she's so easy to start leaning in either direction.

I really wanted to get this because it does look really good for a 1/8 but it just seemed really small compared to other 1/8 scales. Also the price was almost as much as some 1/6 scaled figures but I suppose the quality of details you were getting out of it justified it's price tag plus the base is unique compared to other scaled statue type figures.

She does appear to be leaning. I haven't checked mine, but I was worried about that problem, too.

If her twin tails are supposed to be the same height then you can tell for a fact that she's leaning by looking at the top of the mirror which is behind her. On our left (her right) her hair is lower than the other side. If they aren't supposed to be the same height then its just an optical illusion that's coincidentally showing up. In other words, the fact that her right leg somewhat crosses her left puts it at an angle which makes it appear its leaning, since you'd expect the leg to be more vertical.

Though the same can't be said for the booster packs by her waist, or whatever you'd like to call them. They like are supposed to be the same height but the one on her right is lower than the other. It might just be because of the angle the picture was taken.
