Amagami SS Haruka Arc Impression
I have no particular idea why but today I wrote a blog post on my impressions of Amagami SS first arc and really really wanted to share it with everyone on figure.fm
you can read the original post here

or just scroll down and read the excerpts
IMPORTANT : I wrote this for individuals who have already seen Amagami SS
so if you have not seen it , it will be very difficult for you to understand what I am talking about.

In the scene Haruka getting upset because Junichi did not go to peek on her taking a bath she did not immediately get mad at Junichi instead she questioned him with whether he likes her or not and whether it it is natural to peek on a girl one likes or not and etc
this scene brings up a very simple key thing in relationships that is often overlooked and or ignored because it is so simple : some things need to be said even if you are 100% sure your partner knows it because the mind will wander and doubt without confirmation in a sensitive situation like relationships
if there is something not sure ; ask to confirm it
if there is something want to say ; say it if cant then gtfo relationship already
the number one problem in relationships is always because words are not exchanged and one or the other jumps to a conclusion without confirm

this scene is great because Haruka actually says what she feels ( of course that is what we as the audience are lead to believe by the creators but it is very well done and believable )
everyone should watch and learn from this !

so really what did most of you think of the Haruka Arc ending with the dramatic lovely couple scene ? did you think it was fake and surreal ? did you think it was stupid and overly dramatic ?
I surely did not
take a good look around you in the current setting we live in where often love is not expressed passionately, many married couples barely speak their honest feelings to each other, and people often never do what they really want to do
so really what is fake and what is real ?
I am not saying life is bad and fantasy is good but I want to make a point by saying this ; anime is so much more real than life

If you've been with someone in a relationship for a long time you would know why there are things that are not said yet needed to be done and things said but should not be done.
um i'm sorry but even after reading this 10+ times I still don't understand what you mean
Even if you read it a hundred times... Like what i've said...
"If you've been with someone in a relationship for a long time...."
it was an interesting one liner, thanks for that
I thought it over and understand what you mean now
but really... couldn't you have put it a more polite and less I-know-more-than-you manner next time please < <
I enjoyed it, even though some parts where like ehhh. But definitely sometimes people are just too straight forward, or they doubt too much.
I think at the beginning of getting to know someone of course have to observe and not be straight forward a lot, but eventually in a friendship/relationship and even FAMILY relation we should be able to just say whatever
too many people in the world are just too afrid to show their true selves
I know what you mean, some of my friends looks really quite on the outside but once you get to know them its like, "wHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZ UPP"
Wish it got one more episode before it ended, so it didn't feels rushed
hmm there are 6 heroines right ?
so I guess with the half-year 26 episode standard they have to be 4 episodes long
why couldnt it have been 52 episodes and 8 episodes each ; ___ ; waa
8 episode each would be too long though xD lol
And since it follows the story in the game :3
Liked the character design but seriously, 4 episodes per each heroine is just way too short.
Where's the part where the couple's relationship becomes fragile or when the heroine faces some tragic accident we usually see in galge?
Sorry, but this story is a bit too bland for my taste^^;
but given the 4 episode per heroine constraint I'd say the creators did a more than satisfactory job of presenting this series so far. it could have been a LOT worse > <
Being a dating sim game adaptation, "Amagami SS" could easily be(come) just another mediocre harem romance like there are a dime a dozen out there, so when I read it would be omnibus format, dividing the series in arcs each focused on a particular girl, I was intrigued and decided to give it a shot. The promise of having a definite, conclusive ending without a watered down story where the male protagonist makes no choice is a welcome change in this genre.
So far it hasn't let me down, in fact the latter half of the final episode of the Haruka arc pleasantly surprised me! The arc was alright so far but when the finale explored more of Haruka's character and how she sees and lives her relationship with Junichi was quite well done. Makes me wish they'd have more in depth look into their relationship in earlier episodes as well, instead of keeping it to the playful surface.
Can only hope "Amagami SS" does this in the other arcs too and keeps to compelling romantic stories with a deeper look into the characters' psyche.
thank you for the comment !
I agree with you !
I wish there could have been more in depth and character development scenes but the light comedic scenes are really done too ! meaning at least the cuts were not wasted I actually LOLed at the cafeteria feeding scene
I loved Haruka's arc. Junichi's and Haruka's mutual antics were unforgettable and both of them are very interesting characters. Junichi seemed to be a shy boy with no momentum at first, but then he proved to be quite ballsy. And Haruka's personality is extremely cute. Well, everything about her is cute. I just love her ^^ What is more, her seiyuu is Itou Shizuka whose voice I like a lot.
Judging from the first 4 episodes, this anime does quite a good job on the character development taking into account that there are only 4 episodes for each character. The impression that Haruka gave off in episode 1 is rather different from the impression she gives off in episode 4. The romantic facet has been nicely blended with the comedy facet, and that's what I liked a lot. All in all, short as it was, the story has been woven in a pleasant way that let me enjoy very much. By the way, before the Summer season started, I didn't intend to watch Amagami SS, but later I decided to give it a shot, for which I'm very glad.
It's sad that the Morishima arc is over now. I will miss her. But I hope the other arcs will be good, too. Though, I doubt that I could enjoy them more than the first one since nobody can beat Haruka XD
KAORU is next !! the moment I set my eyes on her in EP01 she became my favourite character
I hope she is as lovely as I expected her to be !! > <
what u said is most undoubtly real, saly alot of people don't do that =/
about the haruka arc....no thats unreal theres just no way those kind of situations can happen in real life....or can they....hmmm//
they can be real ! just have to believe ! like really in all seriousness
lol. possible yes but rather unlikely
I really enjoyed the Haruka Arc and I went into the series without playing the game or anything, so was pleasently suprised how good it was.
Her nyaa attack from episode three was far too cute.
I never played the game either,
but maybe I will now XD
Personally I'm disappointed as I feel this series isn't up on par with the previous spiritual prequel kimikiss. To me any romance story is likely a cliche, and this one is not an exception (have watched or read so many). So I only focused on its execution and this one did it not so well. The pacing has issues, sometimes it's too fast, sometimes it's too slow, might be the director wants to make an impression here and there but did it not so well. Overall the first arc feels like a bad recap and the ED just feels dislocated from reality. At least it made me laugh seeing they're still the baka couple like when they were in HS and have some warm feeling from reminiscence as I also have a long running relationship from HS but we can't help but change.
As for what you said in the third paragraph before last, I say that depends. If you're in a relationship long enough, you will learn to pick up expression cues or hints in conversation and knows "things that are not said yet needed to be done and things said but should not be done" (quote of first reply). Sometimes passionately does not equal verbally.
P.S. I do like this series though, have a soft spot for this kind of anime, hope the Kaoru arc to be more interesting. It's definitely better than the monotonous presentation of K-ON!!.
hmm perhaps
I do not understand because I have not been in a relationship for a long time, longest being a year, but I have had my share of relationships I think
my statement's point is actually really simple ; I simply meant that at times a simple phrase like " I love you " needs to be said even if logically it does not need to be
I feel in a good natural relationship both sides should be able to say what one wants to say without feeling pressured or uneasy to do it (well generally for most of the time unless there are special circumstances but even then)
First of all I just want to say that Amagami SS wasn't original on my watch list this season. But boredom drove me to find a very interesting series to watch just to keep me busy. When I watched the anime's first episode, I was immediately hooked to it. It was probably because Junichi and I share the same experience when it comes to love. Also the story isn't like your ordinary romance anime. This is the first anime (for me) that I've watched a series wherein the main character actually has a chance to be together with every girl that he makes a romantic encounter with.
I really like Haruka's arc. I just can't forget the things that they did together ESPECIALLY the knee-pit kissing (seriously, of all the parts in the body, why the back of the knee?). Haruka is a very pleasant character to watch. She's pretty, cute but also has a serious side and she doesn't let her popularity get into her head. I wished I could enjoy more of her but her arc has finally ended. I really like the last episode showing the two living together, still being a playful couple like when they where in highschool.
I never thought hiza no ura (knee pit) kissing could be so ... erotic
I thought wrong - w -
