Box opening, Obitsu 60cm "Ball Joint"

Posted by Ms. Geek [www]

Just got a new doll, an Obitsu 60cm "Ball Joint" girl. Her name is Mitzi Chun, and she's actually Yumiko Natsume's best friend forever. So what happens when she passes out of Yumiko's back story and into reality? Check it out.

      He's a guy. He occasionally does typical guy things. But actually, yeah, when I got Z's body it had been dismembered and put in a medium Priority Mail box. However, glory be, snapping him back together was easy. I was also able to assess the body's condition...he's got a weak spinal piece that will eventually have to be replaced.

      BTW, off topic, take a look at my Daria DVD picspam and tell me if those yellow-painted specs might do your sweet Agatha some good.

        Heh, yeah, I figured. Makes me think a little of listening to my uncle tell stories at Thanksgiving--which of course usually happens in the middle of dinner. My mom and I aren't fazed, as we are peculiarly hard to gross out, but the reactions from his stepmother and sisters are hilarious.

        Hm, they're at least the right shape. . . Though even though I'm not sure about the style, the size seems spot on. How big are they from one temple to the other?

          50mm from hinge to hinge. Fits a Dollfie Dream Yukino/DDH-03 head perfectly, as you can see. Isn't Agatha a DDH-03?

            Thanks for taking that measurement! I'd combed DoA but couldn't find any concrete information, even though I did manage to unearth a thread discussing the old DD1 bodies.

            Yeah, she is. The other pair I was looking at is only a little bigger, actually, even though they don't fold: http://www.crscraft.com/products/product.asp?pid=51002&L1=1&L2=2&L3=0&L4=0&L5=0&cat=&sub=&class=&searchOffset=x Of course, the fact that these are glasses *I* would consider wearing may be skewing my perspective a bit. ^^;

              Not bad, although Agatha's glasses are wire all around. Actually Mitzi's turning out to be a meganekko herself: http://www.flickr.com/photos/msgeek/4832830035/ . Please excuse the Photobooth piccy but I needed to shoot a quick one for my buddy Lizz.

                Well, that's the thing--sometimes they're drawn with a thick line all around, other times they're not. In fact, sometimes it actually looks like there's the two edges of a blank lens. :/ Not sure if Phil or Cheyenne is to blame for the inconsistency though. Kind of like her "Sturmhalten Message" dress, which sometimes has a big slit going up the side and sometimes doesn't. So when faced with inconsistency, I'm inclined to go with what I like best. =P

                Mitzi looks good in those glasses, if a bit condescending with that angle. Makes me imagine her looking at someone and saying, "You. . .are a dumbass."

        I also have an Obitsu 60cm, but I ended up breaking the spinal piece near the leg joint just a couple of days ago. :(

        Know where I can buy a replacement part?

            Thanks! I found it there. :)
            Their postage price is rather high.. $18US just to ship a small part.
            I guess I'll just order a wig or something as well to make the order worthwhile.

              They've also got some good clothes and so on. Seriously, every time I order things from there I get totally dangerous. ^^;;;

    Congrats, Mitzi is really cute! I love her hair. She fits in with your story line perfectly. You have me worried though -- you're not the mom who is sick, are you? If so, I wish you the best of vibes.

      No, my mom died of colon cancer in 1993. Yumiko's experiences will be partially drawn on mine.

        Ah, I see. I'm very sorry for your loss, but glad that you are healthy. I'm going to check back on Den of Angels for the back story of your group, I've totally been drawn in.

        Cool comics BTW -- a really neat effect.
