Finally I'm goin to Tokyo, Japan;)

Tokyo Modern Wonderland
Okay I have some joyful news for myself and well mainly myself. I am planning to go to Tokyo Japan on May 6 to May 22, 2011. Everything is ready to go and I am just raising the money I need for this trip, which is not actually that bad considering the flight and accommodation is less then 3000 grand. I'm flying out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on an Air Canada flight. I have seen flights going for less money but I don't want a connecting flight and I find direct flights more relaxing, for me anyway. Since I am going by myself I have considered Hostels, Hotels, and Ryokans. I have settled for a hotel because for one thing I can fit it into my budget and I'm not to keen on hostels even though they offer student discounts. I will be going to many awesome museums and sites around Tokyo such as The Ghibli Museum and Tokyo Tower just to name a few. Since I will be going for two weeks I wouldn't mind taking a day and going to Mt.Fuji which I heard is very nice. Equipped with my Nikkon D5000 I will document my trip and take awesome photo's of my trip and things I do and people I meet. Thanks for reading and wish me luck!
ARIGATO GOZAIMASU!

1/1 Evangelion 01 just near at Mt Fuji..Go there ! ! at Fujikyu Highland,have a safe trip :)
I'm going to see the Big Gundam as well
NICE :),go too Hobby fair as well
nice, hope u have fun there. Im planning to go on summer of 2012 xD
Nice! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun there I was originally planning to go this year during comiket but with my poor money management with all these new figures coming out that isn't sure that isn't happening anymore XD. But maybe i'll try again next year for one of the wonderfest.
how can u hold the excitement for 10 months = ), i know i cant do it. i tend to book 1-2 months and one time 2 days before flying out cuz i found a good price for a flight to JP. sweet ur going by urself, last 3 time to JP have been by myself since no one else i know enjoy my hobby and one time my companion wont let me enjoy akihabara. remember to buy a 2 day metro pass for about 800 yen - get more then 1. i must likey go JP in april of next year to enjoy the sakura.
we can tell how exited you are about this trip but I can undestand you very well cause I'll be the same. Like some people said, it's quite some time before you go and I bet it's gonna be hard for you to wait till then but the experience will pay good of course.
So it's just a matter of time cause I think that in the end of May you're going to show the pics of your travel to Japan here in figure.fm, till then.
Good luck!
Wow, so much envy T_T. Congrats! When I manage to finance my own trip, I want to visit the San'en-zan Zōjō-ji Temple; it is in the Shiba neighborhood of Minato, in case you are interested in Buddhist traditions.
Congratulations Mstar. I am very happy for you. I know you're going to be excited and
happy as can be. Take lots of pics to show us when you get back, along with some ideas
and tips for the rest of us.
Nice :) I recommend that you do try staying in a ryokan at least for a night (and also a capsule hotel with onsen). I think you'll be lucky to see anything if you just go to Fuji for a day. I stayed for about 4 nights, and only got a good view on the final morning... (didn't visit that theme park though)
Make sure you purchase your ticket for the Ghibli museum before you leave. Tourists/visitors can't buy tickets to the museum there. JTB travel agencies all over the world sell the passes. You then present your pass and passport at the front of the museum to get your ticket and enter.
Its an awesome place, I loved visiting it. SO many pieces of art all over the museum.
There's a JTB in Toronto and I have to wait til march to buy my ticket to the museum.
I'm going for my FOURTH trip next month! I'll be staying in Tokyo (again) but instead of going to Akihabara every day like last year I'm going to do some side-trips outside of Tokyo using it as a home base. I HIGHLY recommend this place:
http://www.toukaisou.com/
Cheap hostel with a private room, western-style bed, private bathroom/bath.
It's in Asakusa which is 3 stops away from Akihabara. You can be out the door and walkin' the streets of the Motherland in minutes.
I'll be flying out of Vancouver on Aug 22. :)
うらやましい!
I want to go to Japan as well, but I could never save up enough money. >.<
Have fun and be safe. Take lots of pictures!
Well congrates on able step onto the centre of the otaku universe...I spend 2 weeks running through the east and west Japan the last time and I might probably going back there anytime soon....Since there are some time,I would strongly suggest you to take some Japanese language course just to make your trip more enjoyable,Japanese's English are not that great over there....
Congratulations, that's around the same time I go to Japan. I use Tokyo as a base to go to Yokohama, Kamakura and Hakone so reserve a day for each of them so you can really enjoy them. One of the best places to stay on the cheap is here:

Its a nice place and the more days you stay, the cheaper the rate is. Have fun and maybe I'll see you there.
