Haruhi, because it feels like Haruhi isn't getting enough love these days. It's all about K-On.

Yeah, it feels like the SOS brigade has been pushed out of the spotlight a smidge lately, which is a real shame because I think Haruhi is a much better show than K-On! ever could be.

I suck at claw games >.< Bring Haruhi with you! The SOS Brigade leader demands it! She is also in her summer uniform, which fits the season. Haruhi has her own camera too. Plus you can change her hair for a ponytail. XD Ponytails make everything better. Plus, Mio is camera shy, no? As for tips, I really can't help you there since I'm a noob too. Try for outdoor shots maybe? The sun provides adequate lighting. Pictures of Haruhi look very nice in the sun!

i chose mio since i've been seeing mostly haruhi figures, cosplays, cosplays, cosplays... >_<
about the photography bit, i haven't used an LX3 before but isn't that like any other point-and-shoot csmera?:-/
anyway, i'd pretty much say that you shouldn't forget the rule of thirds. but i also think that the best pictures are those that captures the emotion/moment.

happy shooting.
BANG! :))

Take Haruhi because she has a camera and happy lively face. Imagine, Haruhi taking pics of hentai / upskirt figure. She also has a laughing face where you could pose her laughing at fail cosplayer.

I kinda like Haruhi better, lol, so I would pick her and especially since she's got the camera (oh wait, Mio could've use that hand with the camera too!). So it's kinda cool if you can take pictures of her taking a picture of something XD Oh and Haruhi's got a better smile :D

Action shots? Just keep your macro shot handy. I realized it much later that I could've taken so many better shots with macro ^^;; Oh and I go for low angle shots, if you catch my drift ^_~

Bring Haruhi! Mio seems too shy to be in a place with too many people and Haruhi will probably be more photogenic. :P And I'm not really sure about tips for taking photos of figmas since I don't own one. >.<

I wouldn't be able to decide which to choose. >.<
So it doesn't matter if I am in the giveaway or not. But here's some tips for figure photography:

Always check your white balance before shooting, always. And check again if you have a feeling that the light changed.
Make the figure fill the screen, unless there's something besides the figure that you want to capture.
Pay attention to the intensity and direction of light, you don't want half of a figure's face to be in shadows.
Poses should look natural and be careful of scratching them on the floor, walls or dropping them.
Figure's face should be clear and not blurry, focus in and hold still. Increasing shutter speed helps.
And don't lose any parts, the Figma bag will be useful.

Have fun! Feel free to contact me if you want more advice. ^ ^

Watch out for Haruhi's front hair pieces too. For some reason, mine don't stay on very well. :/ Her camera is very small too so be careful of that.

Mio. You can use her >.< face when you stand in the longggg lines. You can use her and her guitar as a prop/ have her "singing" and have a change pile next to her like she is begging for change at a convention.

Also when you are bored you can sing (in a falsetto voice) Fuwa fuwa time and pretend that she is singing. Hey if other people have k-on figmas with them (most likely to happen as K-on is really big right now) you can start a jam party and bond over your little k-on figma concert.

Tips? Hold on to your camera at all times. Use a strap, etc, I see people who lose their cameras ALL THE TIME at cons because there is just too much to see. Be careful, be safe, be happy, have fun.

And as for tips with figmas, try to get close up and keep the torso and head in frame (crop the lower body out). That way, it'll look more like a realistic full sized image instead of a miniature.

I voted for Mio..well because of the moe-ness and the fact theres so much Haruhi at cons already XD and I think bringing the Mio figure would be different because there would probably be alot of situatins during the con where you could use her >.< face and get priceless pictures og Mio being all cute and embarassed rather than the happy type cute that we see alot of, and since Mio is always shy and doesnt seem comfortable around large groups of people it makes it all the better if you pose her with her guitar looking like she has stage fright or something XD

as for advice i mnot quite sure since i dont own an L3 and not the best advice giver ^__^; but..macro is your bestfriend!^^b ...and also try to find a place with good lighting.
Be safe and have fun! :D

I'm new to Figures so i don't know that much but I voted Mio,because think it would be funny to see her in your pictures with the face that has her eyes closed since she shy you could try to pose her like she doesn't want to be in the picture:) I just think it would be so funny :D I don't have any tips for taking photos of figmas because i don't have any :(

Go for Mio

Mio can attract more guys because of her Moe looks, while Haruhi might scare away some guys because of her fierce attitude.XD

about the camera actions, Im not that great.
But always be aware of the lighting's. Also, it'll be nice if the joints are not shown (like bending it, or hiding it via Mio's Guitar or Haruhi raising his hand with the digicam). It'll more look like a figure than an average FIGMA.
Stolen shots from them looks good as well. I mean take a shot of them while they're not looking.xD

have fun at the Otakon

It's quite tough to choose between Mio and Haruhi, but in the end, I think that Haruhi is more appropriate for a convention for several reasons:
1) As the character, she more or less knows her stuff. She prods Mikuru to go into costume most of the time, but she did so as well. It's a convention so there'd be a lot of cosplayers there
2) She has a camera (although you can always lend that to Mio if you wish) and you can use that to make her pose like she's taking photos. A lot of people in cons do that too!
3) I'm pretty sure it's summer there so since she's in her summer seifuki, it's perfect. You can even change her hairstyle into a ponytail
4) Her smile! Her smile looks like she's having such a blast! While Mio's smile is too demure for me. If I were in a convention and having fun, my smile would be like Haruhi's

as for photography... I have an LX3 too~! Yay! XD But mine is fairly new so I'm pretty much a newb still. Here are some tips from my own experience though:

1) don't use the flash too often, if you do, you should have something to diffuse the light so that the subjects (especially if they're close up) won't look over exposed (meaning the light hit them too hard D:) this is an example of a DIY flash diffuser for the LX3 which you can probably make under such short notice XD
2) Have one of those handy desk organizers/medicine cases for the small parts of your figma. It would keep them safer rather than the ziplock bag that comes with the figma. Easier to get the stuff too!
3) If you feel like taking shots of them without the stands, I've always heard blutac comes in handy for making them stay put
4) Always make sure all their parts are intact before leaving a spot! A lot of figure owners lose parts after taking their figmas/nendos outdoors
5) Macro. Figure shots almost always need to be in macro mode.

I hope that helps! And have fun! :3
