1/48 M9 gernsback Melissa Mao Ver

Aoshima did pretty good job on making FMP kits, this is the first time i work on kits from Aoshima and i am pretty satisfied with it. For more detailed review visit My Blog

First reason that i decided to pick up this kit is because 1/48 ARX-7 Arbalest was announced few months ago and this item was on discount as well. If i had not heard the news i would have picked up 1/48 M9 Gernsback Sagara ver Instead.

The M9 Gernsback that Mao piloted is the Commander type version, the difference compared to the standard one, the head got an extra horn(think zaku 2 and the commander type) and an extra Long Sword as the equipment.

Here are all of the Weapon accesories provided in the kit which are standard equipments for M9 Gernsback except the long sword. The Two small daggers can be stored inside the AS. Too bad the weapon gimmicks given is terrible, you can't sheathe the large dagger and the longsword inside the scabbard and the weapon case can't store the gun like the robot damshi version.

The Head can be lifted to show the cockpit, the articulations of the major joints are done really well and much better compared to Most of the Kotobukiya kits.

1/48 M9 gernsback is slightly smaller compared to 1/100 gundam, though in real scale probably Gundams are almost twice as big as an Arm Slave

I am pretty satisfied with this kit and the price is really worth it, the only complaint that i had is that the kit is lack of weapon gimmicks and some parts easily fall apart when you try to change the pose. If you are a FMP fan i would recommend to get any of the FMP kits made by Aoshima.

the quality of the plastic is strong but those joints, horrible. my side shields keeps falling off, the hands always wants to come apart and the arms dont tend to hold together.

Yeah that's my issue as well, the hand are not that good in holding the weapons especially for the guns, though i had never got issues with the arms or the side shield. At least it is still better compared to some SRW kits that i had
