Caseing the BRS DVDs
So I've recently gotten the BRS OVA DVD (BOD?) via Megami magazine. When i first ordered i wondered exactly how the DVD was going to come with the magazine, and how it would be packaged. I was not surprised to find it was sealed in a paper envelope embedded in the magazine, but I WAS surprised to find a sheet of box art and insert booklet clearly designed to fit a standard 14mm DVD case. At first i was just planning on getting the one DVD, but the insatiable collector in me has made me go back and order the other two as well.
I know the DVDs in each of the magazines have different art on the disk, now i'm wondering if they each have different box art and inserts as well. or even if the others have box art and inserts at all. So to people who have already received the September issue of Hobby Japan, did you get box art? is it the different from what i have?

So now i guess i need to get some empty DVD cases...
I went to Best Buy, and Target to see if they sold empty cases, and they do, but only in packs of 10, and they are cheap pieces of shit. That's not the kind of thing a display/preservation oriented collector looks for. I even considered going to the clearance movie bin and buying a cheap movie, and ditching the disk that came with it. but alas, those come in shitty cases too.
I have since found a website that sells individual DVD cases, and they even look pretty good. but now i have to decide what color to get, and (assuming the covers are all the same) if i want three cases, or one case that will hold all 3 with one cover etc.. In any case, I temporally borrowed cases from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, and Last Exile: First Move to see how the BRS items look in those color DVD cases.

I know black is the most logical color, but somehow it just feels too generic and thereby less awesome.

What number issue of Megami did the dvd come with adn are there any subtitles on it at all?
It's volume 124. but the magazine doesn't have any subtitles.(not sure how you would subtitle a magazine >_> ) The DVD on the other hand is naturally region free (Huzzah!) and is subtitled in 7 languages, including: English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, and Japanese(for the hearing impaired i guess)
OMG! You got the BRS CD-Art! Lucky lucky! I hope my HobbyJapan will also come with the BRS CD-Art. I'm not feeling DeadMaster as much as her. XD
Also nice to know that it's concealed in a DVD-Box Art. In my opinion, a Black Case is too generic (as you've mentioned), White is very awesome (similar to a Wii/xBox case) and Clear makes it look EXTRA awesome (like PSP/PS3!) XD I'll definitely put mine on clear.
BTW, is the DVD on HD?
If you mean HD as in blueray, i doubt it. But i believe the graphic will be pretty good.
I also doubt that it's in Blu-Ray cause the NendoPucchis will come with the Blu-Ray.
its just standard definition DVD. but dew to the nature of animation, especially anime, i still looks really nice when i play it on my HD digital projector -> 103" screen.
dew = due (damn words with letters in them!)
also, i forgot to mention, the art on the dvd is directly linked to the magazine, its not random at all. [a herf="http://www.figure.fm/post/en/13796/B+RS+News+2010+07+22+Part+2.html"]this post[/a] shows you what disk art comes with what magazine. And BRS is also on the hobby japan DVD, just a different illustration. Dead mast is on Monthly Animedia. and i happen to feeling dead master quite a lot! (if only i meant literally -_-;)
Lol on DeadMaster. XD
That's what I was thinking... since it was anime, it might still play an awesome resolution even at StandardResolution. I'm gonna be playing mine on PS3->46inch so if it was a normal movie, it won't look as good even with its standard definition.
Anywho, I just ordered the Pucchi+BluRay just in case I'm not satisfied with the StandardDefinition. ^__________^
Wow that's awesome, now I may order this too!
HJ doesn't have any cover art, sorry!
okay, so now i know and i can plan accordingly! i guess im glad i got the Megami version first then.
I honestly feel that this gift is better than a dakimakura...haha
Ive never heard of a 7 subtitled anime DVD!
i actually get the feeling Danny is behind that in some way. if not directly telling them is a good idea just be being a there and pointing out, "if you cater to non-japanese people, you can get a LOT of attention."
i agree, the majority of the people here are non Japanese. But in the end we all love anime and actively support the industry, so maybe..just maybe theres hope in that we wouldnt need to buy domesticated DVDs as opposed to buying the JP Versions which will feature Eng Subs.
That is so cool!
Makes me wish I could get it somehow since I have an extra PS2 case.
I like how it looks in the white (like a video game) and in clear (like the Funimation DVDs).
If you could, I'd like to see how I'd look like in a XBOX360 case.
i thought about using a PS2 box as well, but the whole "memory card goes here" thing turns me off completely. Sorry i don't have an Xbox360 for i am a Sony henchman.
I forgot about that...
No Prob, now I wish I had the BRS caseing
just to see how it would look in a XBOX360 case.
Also that fact that it comes with subtitles is a plus in my book.
If you're collecting all of em, they're also going to release DVD/BD sets that come with B★RS and DM Nenpuchis in December:

Already pre-ordered ^_^
Have you decided which colour dvd case you're going with. for me I would say that white looks best^^.
I'd like to know if the September 'Animedia' comes with an art jacket like Megami's? that would be great, thanks.
In the end i was basically forced to go with Black. even tho i personally liked clear the best, of the places that i found that would even sell individual DVD cases at all, none of them sold clear triples+book individually. The only triples i could get were black.
i ordered animedia, but i bundled the shipping with the BRS figma and nendo, so it will still be a little while before i get it. but i'll make a post about everything when it does.
i did kind of have the idea to get a shipment of 20 clear triples, and resell them individually to other figma.fm peps whit the same problem as me... maybe i'll make a post to see if there is interest...
Just so you know, I'm the 1% who voted other. ^^;
How about clear blue? Not the Blu-Ray blue but BRS figma flame blue. That would be coolies.
