New in Akihabara this week, we can see there's a new item on the menu at the adult department store, "m's". That would be the "Chilled Shimapan".

-For those who don't know, Shimapan is a word used for striped pantsu. (panties)

According to Sankaku Complex who found the information on a livedoor Blog, says that the shimapan are all hawked, and being sold nice and cold for folks out on a stroll in Akihabara...or...anyone who'd like a pair of these refreshingly refrigerated undergarments in general.

That's normal...right?

Mouseover = load notes.
Chilled Shimapan

There's two things that I thought about, that grabbed me to worry about humanity a little bit when I read about this.

-1 They're supposedly "hawked", meaning that someone willingly sold them to the store.
-2 They are actually selling. Wow. And someone's making money off this!

Ok ok, so maybe I'm not so worried about humanity...looks like folks in Akihabara are wising up and finding new ways to beat the economy and make some dough!

Mouseover = load notes.
Chilled Shimapan

Reminds me of the McFlurries I've had at McDonald's! And for 980 Yen too!
Maybe McDonald's will catch up on this idea soon, and we just might find ourselves some "McShimapan" on the menu, right next to the McFlurry!

Or not? Is this normal, weird, gross or are you like me and don't even know what to say, and then resort to making jokes about them?

    What a interesting idea...those look pretty good...wait...those are real panties...
    Never mind...no thanks... o_o
    Anyway, if it were actually ice cream (or something eatable) I'd say that's a clever idea,
    but being real panties just makes it really weird...0_0

    They are packaged in drink/ice cream containers, so it looks like something that you're supposed to consume. I wonder if they come with a straw or spoon.

    Great. first they displayed shimapan as hot piping bowl of rice, now as iced goods. There is clearly no god for non-otaku.
