Counterfeit MikkuMiku Kagami(?)
Hi everyone!
I bought a MikkuMiku kagamy from seller called Tisinc99 on Amazon...
But when it arrived I sensed there are something wrong with it... O_o;
Is it a counterfeit one or a real deal?
Someone help me, please!
EDIT: case solved, the comment of the ecchirabu helped to solve the question. In the base that comes with it is written MADE IN CHINA. It's a COUNTERFEIT ONE!!! >_<
It was my fist nendoroid that I bought... TT_TT What a bad experience...
Luckily it's arriving more 2 nendoroids that are from stores approved by dannychoo.com... A Azusa and the last Saber pre-ordered...
But I bought another one that is arriving that I think it is counterfeit... One Churuya-san from ABCTOY4ME at Amazon... O_o; I hope that that is not a counterfeit too... (屮゚Д゚)屮
EDIT: A deeper review/guide is here.

The fist thing I noted is that the printing quality is not as I expected. It's somehow a poor quality printing... ._.;

The info on the back of the box.
Are they all right?
I can not read Japanese... T_T

The content of the box.

Searching on Google found on some pages that the Nendoroid printing in the inner box shoud be from left-bottom to the right-top. Are there any standard on this? O_o???

The content of the box. I didn't noticed anything here... ._.;;;

Please! Someone help me to identify if this one is a real one or a counterfeit!
。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。

The proof that this nendoroid is fake... T_T

There aren't any stickers inside the box... T_T

I do recall seeing this site before and seeing some of the feedbacks to the online store. From what I heard, some people do not get their items or had recieved either the wrong item or fake ones. Plus, customer service is quite horrible on that site as well. Try using this site if you can't find it on HLJ, Amiami, or Otacute.

And don't use tisinc99 again. It's not the best online site to buy stuff at.
TISINC99 have the balls to write that their figure are original from japan.
Take a look at the base, usually fake ones just say "Made in China" while authentic ones have copyright information.

Looking at the pictures the box looks a bit suspicious, but the actual figure looks okay.
Serious??? O_o;
FFFFFUUUUUUU
I verified now the base and it is written on it MADE IN CHINA.
TT_TT
Does it just have the MADE IN CHINA?
Yeah... T_T Let me upload a picture of it.
BTW how much u bought her for?
Knowing tisinc99 they will charge u the full amount of the real figure.
The total was USD$43.90 with shipping... TT_TT
ah bad luck. My base for my other gsc nendo's had made in china in small writing and some other stuff on it.
Next time, try and do some research before trying to buy^^"
ouch, that's a little more than what i paid for her O.O but i bought multiple Nendos, so with shipping, it would have been about the same.
For PVCs by GoodSmile they usually have a hologram sticker on the box. It's pretty hard to spot for this case, probably you'd want to put some pics of her taken out of box. Just like ecchirabu said, check the base words sculpted on, If it is a bootleg, than it must have been a really well-made one.
=/
Sorry to hear that. I don't have this nendoroid in particular so I wouldn't know for SURE. However, in my experience GoodSmile puts the copyright on all their bases, even for nendoroid petits.
It's always rough buying off Amazon or eBay. I get pretty stringent about their reviews, in particular the negative ones. Try not to buy from anyone with less than a 97% positive rating and if a buyer ever puts "fake/counterfeit" then it should be an automatic deal breaker.
where's the sticker??
http://www.thebanzaieffect.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/p1050825.jpg
btw, is the eye color grey??
It's something like greyish purple... T_T
yup! it's a bootleg
No sticker inside the box... T_T
When i bought mine, she didn't have a sticker on it, however you can see the copyright info on her base, here a link to one of my older post showing her on her stand.

None of these decoration stickers said by fzal?

lol sorry, i thought you were referring to the sticker of authenticity, not the packet of stickers that comes with her, yeah mine came with those.
That would mean Saber Casual, (that I purchased thru Treasure Island Sporks a.k.a. tisinc99 dot wtf) is also a bootleg. But.... If the "Made in China" markings mean it's a 'Leg, then Toylet.net sells 'Legs, too.. I purchased Canaan and Ein figmas thru Toylet not too long ago... all three have "Made in China" screened in white on the bottom of the stands, and also are printed on the lower back side of the box.... Yet, the quality of all three are very, very good... (and Saber's box has the hologram, Canaan has none, Ein has "Approved by Media Factory" but not holographic) Yet all three have the "Figma" plastic bag of small bits containment...
Personally, I won't ever go thru tisinc99wtfomgbbqetc.suxxorz again, while toylet.net or other sites approved here and at dannychoo.com will get my support.....
Hopefully my inane rambling might help you a bit here.
0.O
Generally they will have "MADE IN CHINA" printed somewhere, however if other information is present such as copyrights and series, year of production, and the production company's name/logo, then it's legit. If it's just "MADE IN CHINA" alone like TangBR's (sorry >.>) then it's most likely a bootleg.
Yup, mine have copyright stuff: Chunsoft/Project CANAAN. 2002-2006 TYPE-MOON and 2009 Nitroplus/project Phantom all in white silkscreen type printing on the bottom.... *whew* Thanks for the info...
o.O
I think this is the proof that my nendoroid is counterfeit... TT_TT
yeh it is sadly^^"
The nendo was released around 1 and a half year ago, so the price should of been a bit more expensive, if I'm not mistaken.
So I find it hard to believe that tiscn or w/e it's called still has some in stock
Nah, bro. Most, if not all, of them ARE made in China.
Was reading this post, you might wanna see it:
http://www.figure.fm/post/en/8071/February+Adoption.html
From the top, look at the 4th image of this nendo. Look at her base.
Thanks... I saw it...
T_T
Mine is the one in the pic I posted minutes ago... T_T
For the two nendos I got, they both came with a kinda sticker in front of the box and it has the copyright clause alongside Made in China
Do you have pics of them somewhere?
Links plz?
When people say "sticker," they are usually talking about a holographic sticker that is usually on the front of the box or on the back where all the info is (or wherever it is on the box, usually on the back or on the bottom of the box). It is used to indicate that it is an authentic, licensed product.
However, sometimes you can't rely on that alone to indicate if your figure is a bootleg or not. If I remember correctly, figures sold and distributed outside of Japan don't always get those stickers. Some authentic figures I have purchased from sellers in China don't have those stickers, for example. I have some figures from US retailers, and they usually get their figures from AAA Anime so they have their own stickers for that.
Hmm, that's interesting, but i bought a few Nendos direct from japan, but they have no sticker of authenticity. Generally it depends on whether or not the ones who has the rights to the character will present the production company/ies with a seal/sticker of authenticity. For an example, Saber Lily, has a capcom sticker. While Miku does not, even though she is copyrighted to Crypton Future Media. On another note, these stickers will not always be the same, some are holographic, and others are very plain so the plain ones can be replicated if they are a very simple print. Also i don't think GSC, MF, or any other company that i've seen has a sticker for authenticity as they are the ones who produces the figures, so their information will be automatically placed on the box somewhere.
Anyways what you say is true, you just can't rely on the sticker alone, you have to look at other details, and if not, information. If you can see it for your eyes, then you have to look for things such as box quality, print quality, (if figure has a see through panel) means of protection: plastic on parts of the figure where there are likely places for the paint job to rub off of each other, and many other things. Now if you can't see it, such as ordering it online, you have to resort to research: do they have some form of rating system, are they known to be reliable, are the prices anywhere near what they should retail for, when was the figure released, and a few other things. Hopefully that helps explain a little bit more.
I stand corrected, then! Actually, I think you're correct about the reason for having said stickers, now that I've actually taken a better look at some of the stickers. ^^; I think some of us are just so used to automatically thinking that holographic sticker = authentic product or that said sticker needs to be on every figure released ever. Thanks for clearing up my mistake. xD
Yeah, I don't pay attention to the whole sticker issue when it comes to buying figures either secondhand or from marketplace sites like eBay. I definitely look at pricing, packaging, feedbacks, reliability of site/seller, etc.
Hmm... so far I've noticed that nendos do not have hologram stickers, and PVC figures by GSC & Max Factory always have hologram stickers, but this fact doesn't apply for other manufacturers.
That sucks. I know that store. They have a booth in Frank n Sons in City of Industry. I go there often. Their figures from observation look authentic. Most have a holographic sticker or something. But I'll have to be even more careful buying from them. Their prices are kind of expensive in person. They had GSC Saber Lily and Alter Yoko Littner for 150 dollars. Both authentic. But anyway, there are better shops to buy from than TISINC99. I'd only use them as a last resort.
Tisinc99 is a pretty well-known bootleg seller. Sorry you had to find out the hard way. :0
Hello, TangBR.
This post needs a follow-up. Tell us if you got your refund. Even though the seller sent you a fake, I think you should still communicate with them with dignity and calmness. I hope the dispute is settled happily for you. Please let us know how you settled the matter.
Good luck.
:)
I hope too... I sent a e-mail to them... Let's see what happens from now... T_T
Ouch!!!
I only have 14 days to return the item!
TT_TT
I will not be able to return it in time:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/seller/returns.html?ie=UTF8&seller=A32CL24DHHCEAZ
@_@;
talk it up with Amazon as well
a light clear thing sheet of plastic over here so the package doesnt does miku
sometimes extra thing sheets are added so 2 painted pieces don;t accidentally touch.
a reallll close look at the paint job, especially the eyes, and finer details like change of colour in sleeves or tiny logo.
ball joints should be the same colour unless it was intended in the design.
box print quality and packagine overall quality
matte plastic finish shouldn't be glossy/oily look. unless the paint is intended so. for example Drossel-sama is glossy~
Hey there on your 6th picture I added notes on everything i knew about nendoroids before opening them. Notes are placed in key specific area, this is good only if you are at a shop and wanted to buy and it is infront of you, not online I'm sure. but still say if you got something online and they say its official. you can send it back with a complaint (if you havent opened them)
btw not all nendoroids have holographic stickers.
Referrance: I've bought all my nendoroids from HLJ.com and still have packaging, recently purposely bought from a local store $25 Fake Nendoroid Zange-chan because i want to customise her. and got a better close look at fake nendoroids.
Thanks! =D I will take a close look.
The problem is that I usually buy the figures from internet, since the local stores here in Brazi usually sell in a expensive price and sometimes the figures are counterfeit... @_@;
ah i see, me too i guess just shop in shops that are popular and trusted, all the shops thats mentioned by dannychoo or advertised are the populars ones, I only shop @ hlj.com cause i'm familiar with them, I have shopped @ yesasia.com they are good but they don't specialise like hlj.com and others that are similar.
glad to help in some way or another =D
it's a fake alright but don't worry about it too much i have a fake kagamiku from ebay ... i jus took her leeks away .... fakes don't deserve leeks :P
I just found out my Izumi Konata nendoroid is a counterfeit... T T
Can't trust danish people... -_-
Aw ._. Well, we say the same about you xD
Oh btw, you have to be careful if you are buying figures in Denmark, since we know nothing about bootlegs.
Yeah, you too. You'll have to be really lucky, but if you happen to find figures in Sweden you should be careful too. Can't trust Swedish people either I'm afraid.
btw, why scandinavian people just be friends. :/
My friend just found out that his MikkuMiku Kagami was also a bootleg. ¯ 3 ¯
^ (was supposed to be: Why can scandinavian people just be friends.)
Try look for local shops that deals with JPC (Japanese Pop Culture) stuffs in your country. At least they are making business from these and they would import from the right sources. This will at least put your doubt to rest on bootleg stuffs.
d@@b
Even in the local shops there are a lot of counterfeit ones... ^^;
Lot´s of them buy directly from ebay...
alot of nendoroids have " made in china " printed on the stand. doesn't always mean it's a fake (though sadly your's is). since you ordered online, just look for " authentic Good Smile Company " or " AUTH GSC " something along those lines. that way if it does turn out to be a fake, 100% money back from ebay's paypal (assuming you ordered from ebay of course)! if you shopped in a store it's much easier to tell fakes. if you look at the box and the print is either fuzzy, misaligned, or colors are way off it's most likely a fake. the funny thing is there's a place across the street from where i work that has tons of em. i'd take a picture of them for you but they dont allow pictures for " some odd reason ". i haven't gotten any fakes from the places i ordered mine from so i'll shoot you a few links later
Counterfeit. This smiling face should be the default face of Kagamiku when unopened. No sticker decals, and the packaging does not have protective plastic.
But you know, this one looks better than most of the fake Kagamikus I've seen. I was fooled thinking it might be the real thing (I have my own Nendo Kagamiku) If you bought her at say... 10USD, I'd say it's good enough :)
Sign of a counterfeit. GSC Logo looks like it went through a magic-wand extraction in PS. Notice the outline isn't equal at all.
Fine text is too fine, you can barely read it. Most likely have gone through a photoshop extraction before print.
Oh and, Kagamiku is one of the nendos that has that shiny sticker on her box. There should be a small sticker from Kadokawa productions on her box.
The quality of the figure looks quite good for a bootleg, it could have fooled me. If anything, you can use it to be a base for custom figures. Sorry about your figure, I hope you have better luck on your next one!
Err. D: I ordered a Haruhi figma from ABCTOY4ME.. I got it in a blink of an eye. I looked at the box then opened it. Her arm broke off when I held her in my hand. They suck at returning/replacing items. They said, "If it's opened we won't replace it." HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS BROKEN WITHOUT OPENING IT?! T^T
Well. Try to talk with the vendor. If there isn´t any other way, call amazon to solve the issue. ^^;
Say it was broken when you opened the box. ._.;
Not when it was in your hand... Otherwise it will sound so weird... ^^;
Only time that I ordered anything from Tisinc99 was Exelica by Alter 2 years ago. It was the only place that I could find it at the time that had it. So glad that was authentic....
I wasn't sure for a while whether i'd get the authentic stuff 'cos after I placed my order I noticed that they were selling fake stuff as well.....
I had a situation on eBay where I bought the limited Wonderfest Suzumiya Haruhi bunny girl trio set for a really low price. When I found out they were fake, I emailed the seller about this counterfeit product to which he responded, "I don't know about its authenticity, my supplier tell me it's real."
As a resident of Beijing for a year and seeing how it works there, to the mainland Chinese, these 'fake' figures are as legitimate as 'real' ones. In Hong Kong, sometimes people selling cheap DVDs say it's "Authentic in China" instead of "Bootleg."
Well, I never mailed the figures back and actually I happily display them in my dorm room. Even though they may not be "authentic" I still value them the same in my heart, because the smiles on their faces aren't any different than the real ones. :)
Miku? more like Weaku. right?...right? ...I tried.
^^;;;;
Err...
Ok... ^^;;;;
