Black Rock World: step-by-step process

Someone asked me a step-by-step process of this illustration:
http://www.figure.fm/post/en/14185/Black+Rock+World.html

I figured I might as well share it here.

1) I start with a quick drawing to set composition.
2) I draw roughly the characters and the background.
3) I clean up with a proper line art.
4) I begin to set the shadows and the light source.
5) I add the colors on characters.
6) I colour the middleground. (checkerboard, chains, skulls)
7) Then the background with the BRS logo in star shape.
8) Finally, I add the visual effects. (flames, blood, light, etc.)

Hope I didn't bore you, sorry in advance.

It doesn't matter if you do it digitally or on paper, as long as you do it with your heart!
